Position Summary:

Experience working in Agile methodology and a deep understanding of various phases of the Software Development Life Cycle; preferably in Business Analyst / Product Owner role.

Job Description:

Responsible for maximizing the value for a product. Defines the vision and roadmap for the product, defining and prioritizing stories in the product backlog, and articulating this to both stakeholders and the development team. Works closely with stakeholders to understand their needs, and with the Product Manager in a scaled Agile model to ensure there is alignment. Is experienced in the role of a Product Owner, expert of the product, and has a deep understanding of the business or technology domain. Creates the vision and roadmap for the product to align with strategic direction for the business or technology domain. Communicates the product vision and roadmap to stakeholders and the team and drives user adoption. Collaborates with stakeholders to understand their needs, problems, and aligns them on priorities. Creates and prioritizes work for 1-2 teams. Experienced with cross-functional teams. Creates and prioritizes stories in the product backlog. Refines stories with the team to ensure there are enough ready stories to load the next 1-2 sprints. Reviews and accepts stories and is empowered to make on-the-spot decisions on scope and requirements. Works in partnership with the team to ensure that optimum value is obtained through technology and through an advanced understanding of the business. Mentors less experienced Product Owners. Individual contributor.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience in Agile methodology and a deep understanding of various phases of the Software Development Life Cycle; preferably in Business Analyst / Product Owner role

  • Communicate clearly & effectively with technology/development and business partners – ability to translate between these 2 constituencies

  • Excellent written communication skills and excellent communication skills and client presence

  • Support cost/benefit analysis to align tech solutions with business strategy.

  • Ability to create user journeys, user stories, wireframes, mockups, & basic diagrams to convey ideas

  • Experience using tools like Rally and JIRA for Agile projects

  • Understanding of business process redesign concepts and process improvement techniques

  • Understanding and experience with technical solutions and components (APIs, Middleware, Services, SQL)

  • Participate and guide team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle.

  • Perform spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas.

  • Code solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements.

  • Utilize multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements.

  • Assist team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work.

  • Contribute to existing test suites, analyze test reports, identify any test issues/errors, and triage the underlying cause.

  • Document and communicate required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality.

  • Experience with large data sets using big data solutions such as Hadoop, Spark etc. is a plus

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification in Agile Scrum; specifically Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) and/or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and/or Certified Product Owner

Jersey City pay range:

$136,000 - $193,200 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group; and the overall success of the Company.
