Job Description:
This job is responsible for analyzing and interpreting a client's credit worthiness, evaluating credit risks, and writing credit approval memos for annual renewals and new lending opportunities. Key responsibilities include analyzing qualitative and quantitative data such as client's financials, projections, industry data, covenant compliance, and collateral appraisals to ensure compliance with the bank's risk appetite. Job expectations include completing regular monitoring and underwriting tasks and supporting key internal stakeholders to achieve successful execution of new transactions. Our Leveraged Finance Credit business represents Enterprise Credit ("EC") in the leveraged finance acquisition underwriting process and the on-going monitoring and servicing of credit relationships with financial sponsor portfolio companies. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes client's financial performance by comparing it to past performance, projections, and industry standards
  • Reviews financial statements, assesses the client's compliance with financial covenants, and renews risk ratings, while recommending changes as warranted
  • Assists in the underwriting, credit risk analysis, negotiation, and closing of new transactions or existing transactions, while adhering to all relevant policies and procedures
  • Evaluates transaction and relationship risk-adjusted profitability to facilitate the allocation of capital
  • Builds projection models for the client (as needed) based on historical performance, industry forecasts, and other due diligence findings
  • Evaluate, analyze and assess corporate mergers, acquisitions and leveraged buyout transactions
  • Review and analyze underwriting materials, such as: financial statements, presentations, projections, Quality of Earnings, Credit Ratings and other third-party reports
  • Acquire understanding of new businesses and industries in a short period of time
  • Identify and define key credit risks and weigh them against relevant mitigants
  • Conduct due diligence with clients
  • Develop detailed financial projection models
  • Present analysis of risks and associated mitigants to senior leaders in credit approval committees
  • Contribute to and create approval and monitoring documents for the initial acquisition finance underwriting, quarterly and annual credit reviews, and subsequent credit requests
  • Other projects as assigned, such as: reports synthesizing risk exposure statistics, market data over time, and reports on recently announced transactions

Required Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of Financial analysis of public, private and non-traditional financial statements, presentations and projections
  • Business acumen to identify key credit risks and variables to sensitize and diligence with the client
  • Financial forecasting and modeling
  • Analytical thinking and the ability to challenge client forecasting assumptions and identify credit concerns
  • Advanced decision making for underwriting and stress case modeling
  • Ability to succinctly explain and document the various assumptions made in the model by the client and Enterprise Credit as well as analysis of quarterly financial performance
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively across various teams

New York pay and benefits information

New York pay range:

$87,000 - $92,500 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group; and the overall success of the Company.
