Job Description:
The successful candidate will be invited to join Bank of America’s Legal Department as a member of the Global Payments Solutions (“GPS”) Asia Pacific (“APAC”) Legal Team (“Team”).
The Team provides legal support to the rapidly expanding GPS Sales and Product Teams as well as Business Support and Risk Partners in APAC. The GPS line of business offers clients (i) GPS products and services in the eleven countries in Asia wherein Bank of America, N.A. (“BANA”) maintains branch offices and in Malaysia wherein BANA operates through a banking subsidiary, and (ii) GPS-related products and services in non-presence countries wherein such products and services are offered cross-border or through alliance banks.
GPS APAC offers four main product lines: (i) global corporate cash/treasury/liquidity management services, (ii) global trade services and trade finance, (iii) global corporate card services, and (iv) wholesale banknotes.
In APAC, the GPS clients are US, European and Asian multinational companies and financial institutions (bank and non-bank) and their APAC branch offices, subsidiaries and affiliates; regional and indigenous large corporate; governments; and international organizations.
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility is to provide high quality and responsive legal advice to GPS APAC in respect of corporate client negotiations, structuring of new products and services, modification/customization of existing products and services and related documentation to clients’ requirements, development of documentation for existing and new product offerings and services, legal and regulatory issues arising out of the provision of global and regional payment and treasury services; preparation, review, revisions and negotiation of related credit support documentation, e.g. parent guarantees, non-standard bank guarantees, and standby letters of credit.
This lawyer will work in particular to support (a) the Contract Management group with client negotiations and documentation requirements and (b) the GPS APAC Product officers in their roll out of new products, by providing sophisticated and practical risk-appropriate advice and liaising with other internal and external lawyers, as necessary.
