Your background

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with at least 5 years’ working experience in banking operations with a focus on Credit and Loans Operations. Knowledge in Trade Finance Operations especially Bankers Guarantee and Letters of Credit Issuance is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of credit risk management principles, loan documentation, and trade finance instruments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize the daily work to achieve efficient and effective management of time and has exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
  • Be able to work well with all associates and actively promote a cohesive working environment.
  • Be client focused in providing a high level or customer service and conscientiously aware of the quick turnaround time on the checking of documents.
  • Excellent presentations, communication, time management, problem solving, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in using banking systems, credit analysis tools, and Microsoft Office suite. Knowledge in LIQ system is a benefit.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proven track record of process improvement and project management initiatives.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of OFAC/Anti-boycott/Anti-Money Laundering/High Risks Transaction.
  • Sound knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices in credit and trade finance operations.

What you can expect

The Credit and Loans Ops team handles Bilateral, Syndicated, Committed and Non-Committed Loans. The team liaises with internal stakeholders (Bankers, Enterprise Credit, Client Services and the Offshore processing teams) to ensure successful setting up of credit facilities and Loans disbursement. This team also assists with Bancontrol operations where it handles all operational matters related to dormant accounts.

The Singapore Trade operations team is a middle office team which works closely with clients, front office and the back-end processing centre to ensure Trade Finance transactions are processed timely and accurately. Products handled includes import and export letters of credit, inward and outward collections, Bankers Guarantee and Standby Letters of Credit issuance, supply chain financing and Trade Loans.

What you will do

Credit and Loans Operations (Tasks include but is not limited to the following)

  • Execute end-to-end credit operations processes including credit analysis, underwriting, documentation, and monitoring.
  • Manage loan operations activities such as loan booking, disbursement, repayment processing, and collateral management.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including relationship managers, risk management, and legal teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of credit and loans transactions.
  • Monitor credit exposures, loan portfolios, and trade finance transactions to identify potential risks and implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and procedures related to credit and trade finance operations.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members and assist in their professional development.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in credit and loans operations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to credit, loans, and trade finance operations.
  • Handle Bancontrol duties related to dormant accounts, including reviewing and reporting.
  • Maker and Checker duties for risk management and quality assurance.

Trade Operations (Tasks include but is not limited to the following)

  • Manage individual product desks and tasks relevant to each product.
  • Manage documents and instructions from clients.
  • Handle Trade counter duties
  • Escalate and obtain approval from Trade Control and Credit Department when necessary.
  • Scanning of required documents to back office for processing.
  • Attending to GBS and customers queries/clarifications via emails in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all transactions are accurately processed (by back office) / verified in accordance with customer’s instructions and according to the bank’s operational procedure and policies.
  • Print out completed Cover letters, obtain Officer’s signature as per delegation of authority (where applicable).
  • Daily check in the various delivery channels to check client submissions.
  • Ensuring timely review of daily report to ensure prompt actions to be taken.
  • Updating of daily tracker and follow up with clients for status and pending items.
  • Daily reconciliation between GBS and end of day email to ensure item scanned are duly processed.
  • Follow up with correspondent bank for where necessary.
  • Dispatch of documents, advice and schedules to client and corresponding banks.
  • Maker and Checker duties for risk management and quality assurance.
