The Team:

Global Market Operations delivers support for Global Markets sales, trading and underwriting businesses, and certain shared services across securities, derivatives, foreign exchange, futures, options and commodities products for Corporate Treasury, Corporate Investment Portfolio and Wealth Management. The team forms part of the Client & Equity Operations – EMEA Branches division which manages the daily operations of our Global Market client base, handles post-trade operations and is the primary interface to Global Equities Trading partners.

Role Description:

The Market Operations Analyst is a key member of the Operations Team and will be responsible for all facets of the trade life cycle. The person is expected to have an in-depth understanding of the equities market, including but not limited to securities lending/borrowing and corporate actions as well as having excellent Equity Derivatives knowledge. This role requires you to have good communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders, an ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Control Oversight of all Post Trade Activities
  • Escalate any issues that arise to senior management timeously
  • Handle all client queries related to Operation functions with care and professionalism until resolved.
  • Involved in the processing and clearing Equity Derivative Products – Futures, Options
  • Involved in Project Management – Strategic Growth and Automation projects as well as Regulatory Projects
  • Interact and liaise with Internal and External Auditors - Answering questions, proving walk throughs of processes etc
  • Ensure correct and accurate allocations for the local cash equity trading desk and local clients.
  • Resolve all client queries and amendments.
  • Manage client data in local systems
  • Maintain client data static within Bank of America systems based on information received  

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in Broker Operations (allocations, securities lending/borrowing, corporate actions, and settlements)
  • BDA (Broker Dealer Accounting) experience and knowledge.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills

Skills that will help:

  • Industry Exams (JSE Settlements Officers Exam, Registered Persons Exams)
  • Familiarity in dealing with Internal and External Auditors
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Knowledge of Equity Derivative Clearing
  • Capable of working as part of a team
  • Excels in working among diverse viewpoints to understand best way forward.
