The successful candidate will be responsible for providing external communications support for Bank of America’s wealth management businesses, including Merrill Wealth Management and Bank of America Private Bank, as well as local media and other lines of business. The person in this role will work closely with these business lines and media relations executives to further enhance proactive media engagement and initiatives that help drive responsible growth through the promotion of these businesses.

Job responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Media relations support within a highly proactive media team

  • Support and proactively promote subject matter experts, products and platforms, thought leadership, new initiatives, and awards

  • Handle incoming media inquiries and interview requests

  • Prepare spokespeople and facilitate interviews

  • Maintain and build new journalist relationships, both in the financial press and mainstream press

  • Collaborate with key business partners including internal communications, marketing, public policy, and legal.

Required Skills:

  • 5-10 years prior experience working with the media and contributing to proactive media relations programs

  • 5-10 years of experience in a related role or PR agency

  • A proven track record of working in an external communications role, preferably in the financial sector, or with a relevant agency or media organization

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Good judgement and ability to manage reputational risk

  • Critical thinking skills and an ability to apply them in a real-time basis to make quick decisions

  • Strong multitasking skills, ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities

  • Highly responsive and able to meet tight deadlines; acts with a sense of urgency when necessary

  • Good relationship management, interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively – must be a team player

New York pay and benefits information

New York pay range:

$130,500 - $180,200 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group; and the overall success of the Company.
