CFO Cross Risk Manager

Global Markets and Financial Risk (GMFR) seeks to deliver effective independent risk management of the activities and processes associated with managing the Company’s market, capital, liquidity and earnings risks. This group also provides Chief Risk Officer coverage for the Global Markets business and the CFO Group. The Capital, Liquidity, and CRO for CFO Risk Program Team owns the Company’s capital and liquidity risk management programs, and brings together a holistic point of view across all seven risk types for the CFO Group. This CFO cross-risk function takes a strategic and collaborative approach, supporting comprehensive risk management of the CFO Group’s activities. The team focuses on key risks that impact multiple risk types, especially risks that impact the Compliance, Operational, Liquidity, Interest Rate, and Strategic and Capital risks types. The team also manages the Recovery and Resolution Program for Risk teams covering the CFO Group and the GMFR executive, while supporting and engaging with key CFO Group and Enterprise risk management governance, programs, and routines such as the CFO Risk Committee, the Risk ID Program and Risk Appetite Process. 

Role Summary: 

The CFO Cross Risk Manager role will drive holistic coverage of all seven risk types for the CFO Group by implementing and enhancing the team’s CRO Coverage Program. Specific examples include coordinating review and challenge of the CFO Group’s Risk ID inventory, managing a “top risk” debate process, analysis of inter-connected risks within the CFO Group and across the Company’s balance sheet, and driving cross-risk projects to completion. Responsibilities also include conducting analysis of company peer capital, liquidity and earnings levels and drivers.

This role will liaise closely with teammates inside GMFR and across Global Risk Management, gaining exposure to Compliance and Operational, Liquidity, Capital, and Market Risk teams. The role requires a person with curiosity and a passion for inquiry, comfort with ambiguity, and an entrepreneurial/learning mindset. Self-motivated and flexible, the candidate will be adept at both creative and analytical thinking, and have the willingness to work in a function that is evolving and maturing.

The position also requires the individual to build and maintain relationships across the enterprise, and work closely with other teams in Global Risk Management and the CFO Group.

Critical Success Measures:

•    Deliver against core requirements of CRO Program and drive integration with Global Market CRO team
•    Develop risk insights across risk types impacting the CFO group and provide to senior management 
•    Mature current review and challenge processes aligned to the CFO Group, including the CFO Risk ID inventory
•    Manage ad-hoc cross-risk projects and bring to conclusion

Key Requirements:

•    Strong written and verbal communication skills paired with executive presence
•    Leadership depth and maturity to actively consult, engage, and influence across various teams and functions, while being solution oriented to achieve collaborative outcomes in a highly matrixed environment
•    7+ years of Risk Management Experience, or related experience in Treasury, Financial Markets, or Finance / Accounting; Note – diverse backgrounds or experiences welcomed
•    Strong business-centric mindset with ability to utilize sound business judgment and tailor approach to drive optimal business outcomes
•    Takes Initiative; ability to work through a large volume of ongoing deliverables, manage projects, and pivot between tactical and strategic tasks.
