Treasury Data Management - ESG Reference Data Analyst

Job Description:

The Senior Data Associate role transfers knowledge and trains the team and works in partnership with peers to drive coordination efforts and execute the work to support key deliverables specific to their respective product to deliver an integrated set of horizontal product data capabilities.

Treasury Data Management (TDM) is responsible for ensuring data is timely, accurate and complete with respect to Bank of America’s Treasury Function’s needs and use cases. This role will be responsible for Reference Data within a larger data environment.

In addition, the individual will have a unique opportunity to support the firm’s innovative and evolving Sustainable Finance and Climate strategy, specifically, Treasury’s accurate and measured reporting of the on balance sheet component of BAC’s commitment to mobilize $1.5T in capital to environmental transition and social inclusive development by 2030.  They will partner directly with Treasury leadership and work closely with other leaders across the firm including, but not limited to, Global Sustainable Finance (GSF) in Global Markets, BAC’s ESG group, and business representatives across all eight lines of business.  This analyst will be responsible for working with Treasury partners to add data elements, enhance data quality and perform ad hoc data extracts/analysis to ensure that we can produce accurate, complete, and well controlled reports and analytics of the firm’s balance sheet supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise for sustainable finance and climate strategy reference data attributes including those affecting:

    • Counterparty/Client, or

    • Securities, Market and Trading Book, or

    • General Ledger, Legal Entity and Rates

  • Control Reference Data consumed by Treasury, including investigating and developing remediation plans for data quality issues;

  • Interface with business partners on their data needs, requirements for new data requests, track and prioritize changes;

  • Drive consistency of Reference Data for Treasury consumption;

  • Assist team with data analysis and ensure quality of outputs;

  • Continuously refine output of Value Added Process/Transformation to improve accuracy;

  • Create SQL scripts and conduct user acceptance testing on new data requests;

  • Support Treasury Data Management Enterprise Data Incident Management process;

  • Collaborate across stakeholders including business reporting, product-specific data stewards, tech partners, upstream data providers/data management, and risk/compliance;

  • Identify, review, and evaluate potential upstream systems to determine data sourcing strategy;

  • Follow the proper risk disciplines and proactively escalate as needed;

  • Adhere to Enterprise Data Management Standards and Risk Data Aggregation requirements;

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or other related field

  • 3 to 6 years of data analysis and product expertise within the financial industry;

  • Familiarity with transactional databases;

  • Analytics experience with SQL;

  • Capacity to handle multiple tasks and work in a flexible environment;

  • Ability to think and act independently, detailed oriented and organized;

  • Data Management experience;

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships across a matrixed organization;

  • Bank of America, Treasury or Middle Office experience a plus;

  • Experience with applicable Bank of America platforms a plus;;

  • Exposure to Agile methodology a plus;
