Business Strategy & Initiative Manager

Job Description:

The Global Markets Risk (GMR) COO team is responsible for ensuring “best-in-class” and consistent operations, controls and governance across GMR. The team works with senior management in supporting a number of deliverables for GMR, including business operations, business controls, policies & procedures management, oversight the GMR Program, committee management and governance. The team is looking for a highly motivated individual to drive execution of key strategic initiatives, to support key risk routines, and to lead the design, development, execution and continuous improvement of the GMR Business Controls Program.

Responsibilities:
• Upgrade the GMR Business Controls Program with the responsibility of assessing and challenging the Global Markets Risk control framework
• Responsible for driving Global Market Risk (GMR) engagement and timely delivery of various deliverables related to the Quality Assurance & Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) Standards. At a minimum this includes creating routines to establish effective channels for GMR process review and understanding, working with Risk Executives & Process Owners to identify all significant business activities, processes, risks, and controls (PRC)
• Work with process owners to assess operational risks, ensure controls are working effectively, and drive remediation of control enhancements
• Develop & produce monthly status reporting and updating the SLT and GMR Risk Executive on Business Control status
• Manage GMR Tools (SharePoint) to assist with deliverables and the effective dissemination of information including PRC Inventory refresh, business controls best practices, FAQ and available resources
• Attend the monthly GMR OpEx meetings; helping to document processes and develop process improvement ideas; submitting SIM / OpEx ideas
• Participate in GRM Business Controls routines to facilitate adherence activities within Vertical
• The candidate will work closely with colleagues within the GMR team as well as in the broader GRM COO Business Controls horizontal to execute on various activities including: Risk ID Program, PRC, Records Management, Global Resolution & Recovery Planning, LMA, Models, and Critical Use Spreadsheets (CUS), Attestations, etc.

This role may support the GMR COO team globally on various activities including: business operations, program management and governance.

Required Skills:
• Strategic thinker with the ability to challenge the status quo, drive change, design innovative solutions and deliver results
• Working knowledge of risk management and regulatory interactions
• 7+ years of experience in financial services industry or experience in a related field; Business Controls experience
• Ability to manage a project from beginning to end
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, collaboration and influencing skills
• Strong partnership and relationship management skills; ability to work across functions and organizational lines/levels
• Ability to effectively challenge and build consensus
• Inquisitive, self-driven and positive under pressure


Desired Skills:
• Understanding of the role of a second line risk function in a financial markets business
• Understanding of Global Compliance and Operational Risk business and emerging risk trends
• Process mapping and improvement skills
• Experience with Risk Management tools & systems
