Role Overview

Global Payment Solutions (GPS) is seeking a high-potential Vice President to support the management and evolution of our EMEA Merchant Acquiring product portfolio.

This role is designed for an experienced product professional looking to broaden their strategic, commercial, and leadership capabilities with a view to progressing into a senior Product Manager or Director-level role within the next 3-5 years.

Working directly with senior product leadership, the successful candidate will help drive product strategy, commercial growth, risk management, client experience improvements, and product development initiatives across merchant acquiring, gateways, and value-added payment services. The role provides end-to-end exposure to the product lifecycle and offers the opportunity to become a future business owner for a major payments franchise. This position combines hands-on product management responsibilities with increasing leadership exposure, allowing the individual to develop the strategic, financial, risk and stakeholder-management skills required for future senior leadership positions.

The Vice President will support the Product Director and senior leadership team in managing the profitability, growth, governance and development of the EMEA Merchant Services Portfolio across card acquiring and gateway solutions.

The role will contribute to strategic initiatives, product development, market expansion, regulatory compliance, and customer experience improvements while gradually assuming ownership of increasingly complex product domains and strategic initiatives.

Success in this role will be measured not only by delivery performance, but also by demonstrated readiness to lead larger product portfolios and eventually assume full business ownership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Help shape the future of the EMEA Merchant Acquiring business by contributing to product strategy, portfolio evolution and long-term roadmap planning. Conduct market, competitor and industry analysis to identify emerging opportunities, customer needs and competitive threats, while developing business cases to support investment decisions, new capabilities, strategic partnerships and market expansion initiatives.

  • Drive the development and enhancement of merchant acquiring products and services across the end-to-end payments lifecycle, including merchant onboarding, authorisation, clearing, settlement, funding, reconciliation, reporting, billing, and dispute management. Identify opportunities to strengthen client value propositions, improve operational efficiency and deliver market-leading payment acceptance solutions for corporate and commercial clients.
  • Partner with Technology, Operations and external providers to deliver product innovation and strategic change. Define business requirements, influence prioritisation decisions, support the product development lifecycle and ensure successful delivery of new capabilities, processor integrations, scheme initiatives and product enhancements. Champion a culture of continuous improvement, while proactively identifying and managing delivery risks and dependencies.
  • Support the growth and commercial success of the merchant acquiring portfolio through performance analysis, financial management and data-driven decision making. Monitor key business metrics including revenue, volumes, pricing, costs and client adoption, using insights to identify opportunities for growth, optimisation and enhanced profitability.
  • Act as a trusted partner to Sales, Relationship Management and key clients, supporting strategic opportunities, complex solution design, RFP responses and client engagements. Gather market and customer insights, translate merchant feedback into product enhancements and help deliver exceptional customer experiences across the client lifecycle.
  • Ensure product initiatives meet the highest standards of governance, risk management and regulatory compliance. Work closely with Risk, Compliance, Legal and control partners to support product governance, regulatory change implementation, audit activities and risk assessments, ensuring solutions remain aligned with applicable legal, regulatory and card scheme requirements.
  • Build strong relationships and influence across a diverse stakeholder community, including Product, Technology, Operations, Finance, Sales, Risk, Compliance and external partners. Present recommendations to senior management, contribute to governance forums and demonstrate leadership through collaboration, ownership and the ability to drive complex initiatives from concept through execution.

What we are looking for

  •  5-10 years of experience in payments, merchant acquiring, commercial cards, product management, transaction banking or financial technology.
  • Strong understanding of merchant acquiring, payment processing, gateways and/or card issuing and acceptance solutions.
  • Experience delivering complex products in a regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, commercial and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within a global bank, acquirer, processor, gateway provider or payments fintech.
  • Understanding of EMEA payments markets and regulations.
  • Exposure to product P&L management and strategy development.
  • Knowledge of eCommerce, omnichannel payments, APIs and gateway technologies.
