The team
The GPS EMEA Financial Institutions team helps banks and other regulated financial institutions with payments, liquidity, transactional FX, trade finance and related treasury solutions.
The EMEA Inbound Banks franchise covers the EMEA branches and subsidiaries of financial institutions headquartered outside the region. The franchise has built strong momentum in new entities, mandates and operational deposits. We are now looking for a Vice President to take dedicated ownership of the portfolio and lead its next phase of growth.
The role
The Treasury Sales Officer has primary GPS sales responsibility for an assigned portfolio of EMEA inbound banks. The role is responsible for protecting and growing revenue, increasing product penetration, and owning opportunities from origination through onboarding, implementation and revenue realisation.
Clients increasingly need more than clearing. They want payments, liquidity, FX, data and controls to work together across currencies and payment rails. The successful candidate will understand each client's wider operating model and bring the right capabilities together into one coherent strategy.
Reporting and coordination are core to the role. The VP will be the central EMEA point of coordination for the portfolio. They will keep EMEA coverage aligned with home-region Treasury Sales Officers, Corporate Banking, CBK-S and product partners.
Responsibilities
Portfolio ownership and growth
- Own an assigned portfolio of EMEA branches and subsidiaries of foreign financial institutions.
- Protect existing revenue through account, retention and recovery plans for priority relationships.
- Understand each client's legal-entity structure, payment flows, liquidity needs and strategic priorities.
- Convert the existing pipeline, then originate new entities and logos where there is a credible business need and an attractive risk-adjusted return.
Integrated solutions
- Build client strategies across:
- domestic and cross-border payments
- currency clearing and account services, including USD, EUR, GBP and CHF
- liquidity and deposits
- transactional FX
- trade finance
- banknotes
- Combine correspondent banking capabilities with real-time payments, APIs and data-led services across multiple rails.
- Position FX, including AutoFX, as part of the client's payment flows rather than as a standalone product.
- Shift revenue towards transaction-led, fee-based income by turning balances and flows into sustainable relationship revenue.
Reporting and management information
- Own the portfolio's reporting across revenue, revenue movement, pipeline, mandates, implementations and forecasts.
- Report each stage of the funnel separately: identified, qualified, mandated, implementing, live.
- Track revenue gainers and detractors, set corrective actions, and measure conversion at every stage.
- Produce concise updates for EMEA and global GPS leadership covering progress, risks, decisions required and named owners.
- Keep data consistent across CRM, client plans and management reporting, using repeatable dashboards rather than one-off manual analysis.
Global and regional coordination
- Build joint account plans with home-region TSOs, Corporate Banking and CBK-S.
- Agree clear ownership of headquarters engagement, local coverage, product dialogue and implementation.
- Run a regular portfolio and pipeline review with regional and global stakeholders.
- Avoid duplication across sales, product and specialist teams.
- Escalate early, stating the client impact, the revenue at stake, the accountable owner and the proposed fix.
Execution
- Set clear deal plans, milestones, economics and accountable owners for priority opportunities.
- Spot onboarding, KYC, sanctions, credit and technology constraints early, and coordinate partners to resolve them.
- Stay accountable after go-live for adoption, volumes and revenue delivery.
Client advisory and governance
- Lead senior client meetings, treasury reviews, RFPs and negotiations.
- Engage clients on payments modernisation, always-on liquidity, FX, APIs, digital money and operational resilience.
- Separate scalable opportunities from experimentation, and never present pilots as generally available solutions.
- Feed client and market insight back to product partners.
- Make sure opportunities fit the client's business model and the Bank's risk appetite, with disciplined pricing and full regulatory compliance.
- Support junior colleagues on the portfolio.
What we are looking for
- Client-facing experience in transaction banking, correspondent banking or financial-institutions coverage.
- A track record of personally originating and converting business with banks or other regulated financial institutions.
- Strong knowledge of cross-border payments, clearing, liquidity and transactional FX across major currencies.
- Understanding of real-time payments, APIs and evolving multi-rail payment models.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, and experience producing management information for senior stakeholders.
- Proven ability to coordinate across regions, products and control functions without formal authority.
- Experience handling complex onboarding, KYC and cross-border governance.
- Sound commercial and risk judgement, plus excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Fluency in English. Experience covering APAC, North American or Latin American banks in EMEA is preferred, as are relevant additional languages.
Measures of success
- Commercial: revenue growth and protection; transaction-led revenue mix; new logos and entities; product penetration; recovery of revenue detractors.
- Conversion: pipeline-to-mandate, mandate-to-live, time to revenue, and realised revenue against the business case.
- Reporting and coordination: accurate forecasts and pipeline, quality of joint account plans, effective global reviews, and clear ownership with follow-through.
- Governance and team: sound risk management and contribution to junior talent development.
Why join
This is a chance to own and grow a strategically important franchise connecting financial institutions from APAC, North America and Latin America with their EMEA treasury needs. The role comes with significant exposure to senior clients, global coverage teams and GPS leadership. It suits an ambitious Treasury Sales Officer who wants to build a business, not inherit a static portfolio.
