Job Description:
This job is responsible for supporting the delivery and execution of Global Human Resources (GHR) products and programs, which may include Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, Learning and Development (LD), Retirement, Shared Services or Staffing. Key responsibilities include operational process execution, quality assurance, and ensuring proper controls are in place. Job expectations include understanding the programs/products, operational requirements, end-to-end processes, and oversight necessary to deliver HR programs.

Global Mobility is a specialist function in Global Human Resources (GHR) and manages the Bank’s international assignments and transfers, US domestic relocations, and global immigration.  It owns the global mobility programs, the relocation, tax and immigration vendor relationships, the system and processes related to the bank’s mobile population in 40+ locations.  This is an established team with a presence in New York, Charlotte, London/Camberley and Hong Kong.

The Global Mobility Advisor role is a front line position involving heavy interaction with relocating employees as their relationship manager throughout the transfer / assignment cycle. The Advisor also partners closely with Line of Business (LOB) HR Partners, Finance, Corporate Tax, Compensation and Benefits, Payroll, Legal, Talent Acquisition and external vendors to ensure operational excellence and to support the bank’s mobile employees. The Advisor is responsible for providing HR/LOB managers with advice and counsel regarding the bank’s relocation programs and the related transfer processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultative end-to-end relocation and assignment services for international transfers and assignments into the Americas region, including the immigration and tax related implications of mobility.

  • Provide consultative end-to-end support for US domestic relocations, including facilitating of the bank’s Home Sale Assistance program.

  • Manage relationships with other stakeholders within the business (payroll, Corporate tax, Benefits, TA and HR) to provide a seamless global service.

  • Provide program recommendations and guidance to LOB partners based on facts and business circumstances to enable decision making within the business, including explaining the tax logic captured in cost estimate calculations

  • Advise LOBs on assignment/transfer structure (e.g., social tax set-up, timing of transfer, tax residency status and impact of inter-company re-charges)

  • Present assignment / transfer terms, conditions and processes, including explanation and proactive management of the impact of legislative changes on the mobile population

  • Act as primary point of contact for employee and HR partners in designated business units during all the phases of the assignment life cycle.

  • Support ad hoc Global Mobility project work with a focus on driving operational excellence.

  • Ensure that Global Mobility programs are compliant with relevant legislative requirements.

  • Partner with Global Mobility advisors across regions to ensure seamless and consistent advice.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in Global Mobility, ideally with expertise in US immigration, tax and/or home sale programs

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written; ability to articulate complex concepts to a non-specialist audience.

  • Acts with a sense of urgency and drives issues through completion with a positive attitude

  • Attention to detail with strong analytical capabilities

  • A team player who thinks and acts cross-functions

  • A problem solver with a “can do” attitude, consultative approach and client service mentality

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing third party vendors (immigration, tax, relocation services)

  • International experience; accustomed to working in a global team across time zones.

  • Proficient with Microsoft office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Co-Pilot)
