London Location Overview

The Team

The Asset Optimization Group (AOG) manages Financial Resources across the Equity Division. AOG finances all long inventory across each individual Trading Desk, interacts with Treasury and Liquidity Risk to manage entity level liquidity requirements and works with support partners across the Firm to control and review Financial Resources utilization. AOG also works with clients to structure transactions to manage the Firm’s Financial Resources.

Job Description

Trading role within (AOG), responsible for daily analysis and optimization of Financial Resources. The candidate will assist in analysing the financing book and its usage of financial resources, work with sales and clients to optimize portfolio composition and define trades to increase profitability across the Equities Financing business. 

Responsibilities

Role activities and responsibilities may include:

  • Daily review of funding books and relevant efficiency metrics across balance sheet, liquidity and capital

  • Daily review of efficiencies (e.g. internalisation) and trading opportunities across the financing book with particular focus on portfolio composition and legal entity strategy

  • Focus on financing book revenues. Work with Client to maximise opportunities across currency and rates

  • Review and coordinate bespoke funding transactions with Clients

  • Work with clients to improve efficiencies across the financing book

  • Assist in the production of reports and data analysis for the desk

  • Interact with clients and help further relationships across the franchise

  • Detailed understanding of trading rules and practices to proactively consider liquidity, balance sheet and capital constraints when managing the book

  • Work closely with other desks in driving the optimization agenda for the Firm

What We Are Looking For

  • Knowledge of financing products including repos, stock borrows and equity swaps; their uses, the markets they trade in and inputs for pricing

  • Understanding of market dynamics and ability to discuss and provide trading colour / impact analysis as conditions change

  • Work experience in a trading/sales environment

  • Ability to identify issues, evaluate data and generate ideas

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to help build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, support partners and clients

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint

  • Python/VBA knowledge preferred
