Job Description:
This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, and solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Job expectations include a strong knowledge of development and testing practices common to the industry and design and architectural patterns.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize in-depth capital markets products knowledge to design, code, test, debug, and document programs as well as support activities for the corporate systems architecture.
  • Work closely and collaborate with business partners, primarily traders, to understand problem statements, trade flow and define requirements for system applications.
  • Develop high level and low level design documents for projects undertaken.
  • Analyze the accuracy and performance of “hedge orders” calculated by the system.
  • Engage with market data providers like Bloomberg and Refinitiv, as needed, to communicate issues and track them to closure.
  • Analyze the performance of the software and implement improvements to enhance speed, scalability, and resource utilization.
  • Fully understand Quartz platform, an integrated front-to-back sales/trading system to manage positions, pricing, and risk management for all financial instruments across all Global Markets Technology (GMT) business lines at Bank of America, and use it for developing applications.
  • Participate in peer code reviews to ensure coding best practices are followed and the quality of software is maintained.
  • Participate in agile practices.
  • Conduct knowledge sharing sessions with junior engineer to share the technical knowledge best practices, and project specific information, ensuring team competency and growth.
  • Stay informed and up to date on the latest enterprise software libraries and products and remediate as necessary.
  • Remote work may be permitted within a commutable distance from the worksite.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Engineering (any), or related: and
  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related IT occupation.
  • Must include 5 years of experience in each of the following:
  • Designing and developing scalable enterprise grade applications, frameworks and libraries using Object Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and performing service integration through APIs and webservices using REST and SOAP web services;
  • Designing and developing responsive user interfaces using Front End Technologies including Java Script, Angular and React Framework;
  • Rapid prototyping and developing new proof of concept projects to enhance current software systems to handle increased traffic and larger datasets with industry leading tools and technologies;
  • Designing robust, scalable data storage solutions to house significantly large amount of data with sub 1s retrieval times; and,
  • Reversing engineering existing architecture and redesigning components to improve resiliency and scale.
