Job Description:
This role is responsible for performing/overseeing trade booking and trade validation, including the analysis and resolution of a wide variety of complex products that may require special handling or exception reporting. The role supports ongoing trade maintenance and reporting as well as supporting the implementation of improvements to the system infrastructure and control environment. The role may also require handling of regulatory queries as well as participation in audit reviews. These individuals provide general team guidance and interact daily with senior trading personnel.

Operations plays a vital role in enabling the firm’s ability to innovate and deliver the solutions our clients need. The function partners closely with Trading, Sales, and Asset Management to support entry into new markets, the launch of new products, and the effective management of the firm’s high transaction volumes. From simple securities to complex structured derivatives, Operations provides end-to-end support across the trade lifecycle. The organization is responsible for ensuring efficient, accurate, and scalable transaction processing across a diverse set of financial instruments that often require close alignment with the business. A core priority for Operations is the establishment of robust risk management procedures and controls, ensuring both the firm and its clients are appropriately protected. At the same time, Operations is at the forefront of driving industry transformation, with a focus on enhancing accuracy, strengthening controls, and improving overall efficiency through innovation and process optimization. This specific role will be focused on the Trade Control functions supporting the Global Credit Trading Desk with a focus on Credit Derivative products including Single Name CDS, CD Index, CD Tranche and CD Index Options. This role will support daily trade flows, lifecycle event management, reconciliations, reporting, regulatory initiatives, clearing and compression workflows across products.           

Responsibilities:
Direct face off to the business and partnership with the various stakeholders to strategically deliver on GMO/ business requirements and the evolving market environment as necessary. Work closely with the Trading Desk to support the business and perform Trade Control responsibilities such as –

  • Trade Validation – Timely and accurate management of trade capture process to ensure all trades are booked according to terms of underlying agreement in both Front-Office and down-stream applications.
  • Provide support to assigned trading desks – Support the Trading desk across all Trade Control related functions in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ongoing Trade maintenance – Manage trade lifecycle events & perform trade amendments as required
  • Investigate and resolve breaks – Work closely with Front and Back Office to resolve breaks (e.g. Cash, Collateral, Valuations, Documentation etc)
  • Production of daily reports – Distribute Daily reports to the Trading desk, business partners and Senior Management (requiring a high level of attention to detail)
  • Resolve Risk and P&L issues - Work closely with Front Office, Risk and Finance to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Resolving client issues – Working with Sales and Client Management teams to ensure that client issues are addressed and resolved.
  • Credit Default Event - Manage and Process Credit Events working with Front office, Technology and P&L to execute successfully.
  • Resolve queries – Investigate any issues raised to the team, liaising with Front Office, Back Office and/or the client as necessary.
  • Build and maintain relationships across senior business leads and support partners
  • Involvement in ad hoc projects for new processes or industry initiatives                        

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in either Math, Finance, Engineering or Tech
  • 3 years of line work experience in Middle Office or Trade Control
  • Excellent ability to work in a team and with a wide user group across multiple functions
  • Good attention to detail and drive to ensure necessary work is completed to a high standard
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal & written) skills
  • Ability to work diligently, independently and prioritize multiple demands
  • Proficient in MS Office – particularly Excel

 
Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in working with fixed income derivatives and securities – working knowledge of bonds/CDS is an advantage
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment, legal entity strategy and the importance of robust internal controls
  • Inquisitive and possesses strong analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Partner with team, business and technology partners to embrace change and accomplish goals
