ROLE SUMMARY
The Finance Data & Reporting Operations Consultant serves as a strategic enabler for finance and tax organizations by designing, automating, governing, and operationalizing data and reporting solutions.
This role bridges finance stakeholders, data platforms, and technology teams, owning end-to-end delivery from work intake and requirements definition through production deployment, controls, and ongoing operational support.
The consultant delivers measurable efficiency, transparency, and risk reduction through automation, standardized reporting, workflow governance, and platform enablement, while serving as a subject-matter expert and mentor across multiple lines of business.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
DATA & REPORTING ENABLEMENT
Design, develop, and maintain reporting solutions for finance and tax use cases, including work performed under limited or evolving data model documentation.
Serve as a reporting subject-matter expert by identifying data integrity gaps, resolving mapping issues, and working with enterprise stakeholders to drive resolution.
Deliver executive-ready KPI and operational reporting to support visibility, prioritization, and risk management.
PROCESS AUTOMATION & WORKFLOW OPTIMIZATION
Convert manual and semi-manual financial processes into automated, auditable workflows.
Design and enhance enterprise workflow solutions (e.g. SharePoint or workflow automation platforms) tailored to specific business rules.
Implement automated notifications and reporting distribution to improve timeliness, accountability, and transparency.
OPERATIONAL GOVERNANCE & CONTROLS
Establish and maintain structured work intake, prioritization, and delivery processes to ensure clear ownership, traceability, and auditability.
Implement and manage version control and change governance for reporting and automation assets.
Balance speed of delivery with strong data handling, documentation, and control discipline.
PLATFORM ENABLEMENT & SME SUPPORT
Serve as a subject-matter expert for analytics, reporting, and data connectivity platforms, including user enablement and production troubleshooting.
Develop, document, and maintain standardized procedures for tooling configuration, access, and connectivity.
Provide consultative guidance to finance and non-finance partners on automation opportunities, feasibility, and solution design.
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL CONSULTING & STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
Partner with finance, tax, technology, and operations teams to translate business needs into scalable data and reporting solutions.
Lead working sessions and forums to remove delivery blockers, align priorities, and accelerate execution.
Proactively identify risks, capacity constraints, and optimization opportunities across concurrent initiatives.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
TECHNICAL & ANALYTICAL SKILLS
Data analysis, and operational metrics.
Experience with analytics and automation platforms, including workflow tools, reporting galleries, and data access utilities.
Strong understanding of data connectivity, environment configuration, and production support concepts.
Ability to operate effectively despite incomplete or evolving data documentation.
BUSINESS & CONSULTING SKILLS
Demonstrated ability to translate complex business processes into scalable, automated solutions.
Strong stakeholder communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Proven ownership of outcomes across ambiguous and high-complexity initiatives.

Self-directed problem solver with a track record of independently identifying gaps and delivering solutions.
Experience managing multiple concurrent workstreams while maintaining delivery quality and operational controls.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (OPTIONAL)
Experience supporting enterprise financeial systems and large-scale data or reporting migrations.
Exposure to workflow governance, ticketing systems, and KPI-driven delivery models.
