Job Description:
The Engineer / Project Engineer will provide independent technical analysis and risk assessment for debt and tax equity financing across a diverse portfolio of energy and infrastructure assets. These include wind generation, solar across all scales (residential, commercial, utility), battery energy storage systems, data centers, conventional power, and emerging energy/power technologies.
Responsibilities:
Perform detailed technical due diligence to evaluate project feasibility and identify design, construction, budget, schedule, contractual, and operating risks, including preparation of formal technical memoranda
Review project design documents, technical specifications, schedules, and construction methodologies for reasonableness and compliance with industry standards
Validate technical and economic assumptions in financial models and collaborate with deal teams to develop and review sensitivity analyses
Coordinate with and manage work performed by independent engineering and technical consulting firms
Monitor the technical performance of portfolio assets (e.g., generation, availability, O&M expenses, and major technical issues)
Partner with Portfolio Management on construction monitoring, post‑COD performance reviews, and asset risk assessments
Support Origination teams by assisting with early‑stage technical pre‑screening of potential transactions
Evaluate and qualify equipment vendors, EPC contractors, and operators across multiple project types
Required Qualifications:
5+ years minimum experience in energy storage, engineering design, construction management, operations, owner’s engineering and or technical consulting for energy or infrastructure assets
Strong understanding of project development, construction, and operational risks across renewable energy and related infrastructure sectors
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple transactions or workstreams simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment
Proven client and stakeholder management capabilities
Desired Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in engineering or science (electrical preferred; mechanical, power or renewable energy systems, or other energy‑related disciplines acceptable)
Energy Storage experience and or Data Center experience is a plus
