Job Description:
This job is responsible for driving and executing on internal control discipline and operational excellence within a Line of Business (LOB) or Enterprise Control Function (ECF). Key responsibilities include providing analytical and administrative support for LOB or ECF specific processes and tools to drive adherence to enterprise-wide standards. Job expectations include monitoring and testing controls and implementing quality assurance and quality control processes within the LOB or ECF by evaluating data to help identify, track, and report issues and control improvements for remediation.
The Global Payment Operations (GPO) organization delivers global wire transfers and ACH payments for internal and external bank clients and supports end-to-end payment execution and investigations for transactions initiated through various channels. The team also provides sanctions screening on transactions for multiple products, in accordance with policies established by the Global Economic Sanctions Compliance team. Within GPO, the Business Risks and Controls (BRC) function is responsible for assessing and challenging risk and control practices across GPO to promote effective risk management and regulatory readiness. BRC provides subject matter expertise in Audit, Regulatory Exam, and Issue Management activities, supports end‑to‑end Issue lifecycle execution, and serves as a key partner in internal audit, independent risk, and regulatory engagements, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and supervisory expectations.
Responsibilities:
Oversees the design and effectiveness of the risk and control environment to support Client Operational Services and ensure adherence to enterprise-wide standards
Supports the monitoring and testing of controls by evaluating data to identify issues and control improvements for remediation
Implements optimized controls and enhanced Quality Assurance (QA) practices to support business continuity efforts
Conducts and coordinates quality inspection reviews to enhance employee performance and control effectiveness
Performs QA activities including executing on controls, managing cases, and reporting results
Executes initiatives by identifying areas of potential testing automation, procedural updates, thematic trends, test script updates, and coaching opportunities to enhance QA program success
Supports the overall management of and research required for regulatory exams, internal audits, and other monitoring and inspection reviews and evaluates data and information relevant to inspection metrics to support governance activities for dashboard reporting
Supports engagement with Risk, Audit, and regulators by collaborating with the business to prepare necessary deliverables and responses to inquiries
Lead and support Issue Management activities across the lifecycle, including Issue identification, root cause analysis, corrective action plan development, governance approvals, tracking, and validation through closure.
Provide credible challenge and risk-based guidance to stakeholders on control design, execution, and remediation strategies, escalating concerns as appropriate when risks are not adequately addressed.
Monitor and report on Audit, Exam, and Issue remediation status, identifying trends, emerging risks, and potential systemic issues for escalation to senior management and governance forums.
Facilitate effective communication across first, second, and third lines of defense, translating complex risk and control matters into clear, concise updates for senior leadership and governance committees.
Apply strong analytical judgment to assess audit and exam results, evaluate control gaps, and determine the appropriateness, completeness, and sustainability of remediation actions.
Manage multiple concurrent audits, exams, and remediation efforts, ensuring deliverables are completed accurately, on time, and in alignment with regulatory and internal timelines.
Foster a strong risk culture by holding self and others accountable for managing risk, standing firm on control and issue management expectations, and reinforcing ownership across teams.
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of progressive experience in Audit, Regulatory Exam Management, Issue Management, Compliance, or Risk within a large financial institution, public accounting firm, multinational organization, or regulatory agency, with a demonstrated track record of increasing scope, complexity, and ownership of Issue, Audit or Exam-related work.
Demonstrated expertise in Issue Management, including Issue identification, root cause analysis, action plan development, governance approvals, and ongoing remediation tracking through closure.
Proven ability to engage effectively with Internal Audit, Risk, and Regulators, serving as a credible subject matter partner and primary point of contact during audits, exams, and Issue remediation activities.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex risk, control, and Issue-related matters to senior management, auditors, regulators, and/or cross‑functional stakeholders.
Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, including the ability to assess control effectiveness, identify control gaps, evaluate audit/exam findings, and draw risk‑based conclusions.
Demonstrated ability to independently challenge, influence, and escalate risk concerns, including holding stakeholders accountable for timely and sustainable Issue resolution.
Strong project and Issue management capabilities, with experience managing multiple concurrent audit, exam, and remediation efforts across teams and timelines.
Ability to manage conflict constructively, stand firm on risk and control expectations, and maintain professional composure when challenged by senior stakeholders or external reviewers.
Strong sense of ownership and accountability for risk outcomes, including personal responsibility for the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of audit, exam, and Issue management deliverables.
Demonstrated effectiveness operating in a highly matrixed environment, managing competing priorities across multiple audits, exams, and remediation efforts while meeting regulatory timelines.

Experience coaching or reviewing the work of peers or junior team members, providing constructive challenge and quality oversight on audit, exam, and issue management deliverables.
