Job Description:
We are seeking an ABS Research Analyst to join BofA’s highly ranked Securitized Products Research team. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to a group known for analytical depth, rigorous credit work, and strong engagement with institutional investors and internal partners across sales, trading, and banking. The analyst will gain hands‑on experience with ABS data, market trends, deal performance, and sector commentary across auto, credit card, consumer loan, student loan, equipment, and esoteric ABS subsectors.
Key Responsibilities:
Sector & Market Research
- Conduct detailed research across consumer and commercial ABS sectors, analyzing credit performance, deal structures, collateral attributes, macro drivers, and issuer behavior.
- Track monthly remittance data, borrower performance, new‑issuance activity, and secondary‑market spread movements.
- Identify emerging themes, risks, and opportunities that shape sector‑ and deal‑level views.
- Contribute to weekly, monthly, and quarterly ABS research publications.
Quantitative & Data Analytics
- Maintain and enhance internal databases, models, and analytical frameworks.
- Use SQL, Excel, Python, or similar tools to analyze collateral trends, cash‑flow behavior, credit enhancement, and relative‑value metrics.
- Perform scenario analyses and stress tests to assess deal sensitivity in varying market environments.
Client & Internal Engagement
- Prepare presentation and marketing materials for senior team members and client meetings.
- Participate in client discussions to communicate sector views and respond to inquiries on data, analytics, and market developments.
- Build strong working relationships across research, trading, sales, risk, and banking teams to support cross‑functional information flow.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; backgrounds in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Math, Computer Science, or Engineering are a plus but not required.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with experience in SQL, Excel, or similar data‑processing tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex topics.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality control.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced, market‑driven environment.
- Self‑starter with a collaborative mindset; adaptable and eager to learn from evolving market dynamics.
