This job is responsible to lead and direct work across the team and develop and deliver the overall marketing strategy for a portfolio of programs/products/processes. Key responsibilities include using data to make strategic marketing program decisions, building partnerships across the enterprise to drive priorities and project direction, making complex decisions delivering notable impact at the division level, and demonstrating return on investment. Job expectations include identifying risks, tracking to budgets/scope of work, defining/prioritizing solutions and deploying required resources.
The Senior Marketing Director is expected to act as a senior leader and subject matter expert on sports partnerships and provide advice to Bank of America marketing teams and business leaders on the most effective way to build Bank of America’s brands, market its products and services, grow and measure return on investment and achieve business unit objectives utilizing programs targeted to sports and entertainment fans. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Build, lead and maintain positive relationships directly with existing and new external partners and hold partners accountable for results
Play the role of integrator between external partners, agency partners and internal stakeholders, including: line of business executives, LOB and enterprise marketing executives, local markets, channel managers, event managers and other internal constituents in support of marketing and business development programs
Take an active leadership role in shaping, evolving, and operationalizing the bank’s sports partnership strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise brand priorities and business objectives
Make strategic and complex marketing program decisions by applying data, insights, and enterprise priorities to evaluate trade offs, prioritize initiatives across the portfolio, allocate resources effectively, and drive measurable return on investment at the division level
Drive cross functional implementation of the sports partnerships strategy by guiding internal partners, agencies, and external rights holders to deliver fully integrated, measurable programs across the portfolio
Champion cross-functional leveraging of best practices & information sharing within the discipline of partnership marketing
Act as a primary senior subject matter expert on the rules, regulations, policies and customs of teams, leagues, governing bodies and other sports and entertainment organizations, as well as the rights and benefits received from partners, and how those assets are implemented
Lead asset allocation discussions and ensure all assets are allocated well in advance of the commencement of the program planning process
Ensure all marketing rights and benefits are maximized to their fullest potential in support of marketing and business goals of all business units; determine new and innovative ways to use rights and benefits to meet marketing and business goals
Influence and persuade external and internal stakeholders to ensure BAC’s marketing and business goals are met effectively and efficiently
Support marketing and business development programs by managing agency resources who will be responsible for gaining internal and external approvals and implementing rights and benefits acquired through partnership negotiations
Evaluate partnership proposals and develop recommendations regarding such proposals based on BAC’s marketing and business strategies
Support negotiation of partnership agreements with external partners by recommending rights and benefits that effectively align with BAC’s marketing and business goals
Oversee budget and management of budget forecast process and track external scopes of work as needed
Provide input into all creative materials generated in support of partnership programs to ensure all materials adhere with partner rules and regulations and resonate with sports and entertainment fans
Lead ROI/ROO and measurement and research efforts across the portfolio of relationships; ensuring programs and activities are measured to the highest degree possible
Manage & facilitate meeting and other communications routines
Proactively manage, create and fulfill advertising, promotional and event rights and assets
Integrate business routines, processes & systems
Agency relationship management
Develop annual goals and oversee regular metrics maintenance and ongoing reporting
Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have the following skills and experience in order to be successful:
6+ years’ experience in partnerships/integrated marketing; or experience working with sports or entertainment marketing industry
Strong understanding of sports & entertainment landscape and how the bank goes to market in the business
Act as a primary senior subject matter expert on the rules, regulations, policies and customs of teams, leagues, governing bodies and other sports and entertainment organizations, as well as the rights and benefits received from partners, and how those assets are implemented
Support negotiation of partnership agreements with external partners by recommending rights and benefits that effectively align with BAC’s marketing and business goals and optimize the value of the contract for both parties
Converse at a high level with agency personnel and internal and external partners about marketing and advertising creative elements, development processes and specs; strong creative sensibility to navigate brand application and execution
Proactively manage and prioritize multiple inter-connected deadlines and choreograph seamless implementation of rights and assets
Superior proactive planning, organizational and time management skills
Top-level written and verbal communication and influence skills with proven ability to negotiate vertically and horizontally to build consensus and buy-in
Motivated self-starter and able to work in both team and independent situations
Highest level Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Passion for scrutinizing the status-quo and improving the way we do business through use of tools and data
Strategic thinking with a willingness to 'roll up your sleeves' to accomplish goals

Desired Qualifications:
8+ years’ experience in partnerships/integrated marketing; extensive experience working with sports or entertainment marketing strongly preferred
Bachelors degree
MBA or other graduate degree strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of banking and financial services industry, or experience with a financial services company
