Job Description
This role is responsible for providing advice and valuable financial solutions to complex Global Commercial Banking clients and prospects. Key responsibilities of the role include serving as the primary point of contact or trusted advisor and acquiring, deepening and maintaining profitable relationships. This role is also responsible for collaborating with teammates and leading/facilitating client relationships with Product Specialists. Job expectations include having knowledge of the bank's products and services in order to identify cross-selling opportunities and increase overall client satisfaction.
This position may be filled as a Sr. Relationship Manager or Relationship Manager, depending on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities
Manages an extensive portfolio of complex clients and prospects with annual revenues of $50 million to $2 billion and helps companies save, borrow, and invest for their current and future needs
Acquires, deepens and maintains profitable client relationships through sales, prospecting and enhancing existing relationships
Understands and interprets financial and cash flow statements to assess and analyze financial conditions of companies and industry trends
Collaborates with domestic and international teammates throughout the bank, including Investment Banking, Foreign Exchange and Wealth Management and facilitates client relationships with Product Specialists in Credit, Treasury Management and Merchant Services in order to design and deliver financial solutions to clients and prospects
Leads and facilitates dialogue with a variety of complex clients, prospects and centers of influence (accountants, lawyers, private equity firms, etc.) regarding topics such as the client and prospect industry, alternative capital structures and general business issues
Responsible for implementation and pursuit of a prospecting plan including the identification and assessment of prospects as well as conversion tactics and strategy
Coaches and mentors peers, while utilizing leadership skills
Passionate about serving as the bank’s brand ambassador in local community as well as representing the bank at various finance, trade and industry functions, conferences, and events
Embraces change and adapts to changes in sales practices and broader market/industry conditions as needed
Required Skills
7+ years of experience in Commercial or Corporate Lending
Undergraduate degree required: Majors in business, finance or economics preferred
Demonstrates an ability to build, manage, and grow an extensive portfolio of middle market clients with revenues up to $2 billion
Proven track record of prospecting new business and enhancing existing relationships and closing profitable transactions
Professional proven sales skills and experience, including planning, execution and follow up of client meetings
Must be able to assess and analyze financial conditions of clients and industry trends
Capable of organizing, facilitating, leading and negotiating with a team of bank colleagues to solve client problems
Ability to understand and interpret financial statements and cash flow analysis required
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated leadership ability
Experience and strong working knowledge of Capital Markets Solutions (DCM, ECM, Syndications, Lev Fin)
Additional Qualifications
Post-graduate degree or designation preferred
Demonstrated ability to source deals/relationships in Toronto and across Ontario market with a preference towards candidates with strong relationships with private equity firms
Ability to develop business with COIs and C-Suite Executives
Product knowledge is valued (i.e. Global Cash Management, Equipment Financing, Risk Management, etc.)
