Job Description:
This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, coding solutions, unit testing, and ensuring the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust, and well-tested interfaces. Job expectations include an awareness of development and testing practices in the industry.

LOB Position Summary:

We are looking for highly motivated and experienced hands-on developers with proven ability writing elegant and maintainable Java and Python code. The member will be working closely with various technology teams and business partners (Middle office, Front office, Business Supervision Officers, Finance) to build out Risk applications for the Global Markets business. The application provides the ability for users to view and manage risk and P&L data in either EOD, Intraday or On Demand mode as well as providing services to other applications within Bank of America to have access to the data held. The developer will be working across different functional and technical programs to enhance, extend and grow the application.

Responsibilities:

• Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
• Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements
• Performs Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) activities
• Contributes to story refinement and definition of requirements
• Participates in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle
• Contributes to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance), analyze test reports, identify any test issues/errors, and triage the underlying cause
• Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years developing core Java server side applications
• Experienced in technical design with a strong background/track record of working with Java, Spring, XML, Python, Unix, Messaging.
• Excellent problem-solving, design, development, debugging skills and enjoys solving complex technical problems.
• Strong understanding of programming paradigms such as distributed architectures and working with large data sets
• Experience with JVM tuning and garbage collection algorithms
• Develop, test and deliver complex software requirements to accomplish business goals
• Solid knowledge of contemporary development processes, build environments and testing tools
• Knowledge or experience of agile development (e.g. XP, SCRUM, Kanban) and continuous integration
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to work closely with other technology teams, business groups including trading, finance, technology and middle office
• Team player, self-motivated and proactive

Desired Qualifications:

• Ideally 2+ years of experience in the Financial Services industry
• Good working knowledge of front office risk in any business within Global Markets
• Some development experience with python

Degree in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics or relevant analytical degree
