Job Description:
This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, and solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Job expectations include a strong knowledge of development and testing practices common to the industry and design and architectural patterns.
LOB Summary:
This role focuses on designing, developing, and enhancing backend components that power the Global Markets Trade Surveillance platform. The system monitors trade and order activity, detects potential market-misconduct patterns, and supports regulatory investigations in alignment with compliance and industry standards. The engineer ensures solutions meet functional, non-functional, and regulatory requirements while maintaining strong design integrity, scalability, and testability.
The position contributes to modernizing the surveillance engine, integrating GenAI-based capabilities, improving detection accuracy, and optimizing analyst workflows. The engineer works closely with Compliance, Surveillance SMEs, Platform Engineering, and Production Support across the full delivery lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
- Designs, develops, and modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained
- Mentors other software engineers and coach team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automating tool stack
- Executes story refinement, definition of requirements, and estimating work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle
- Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
- Automates manual release activities
- Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance)
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of backend development experience, ideally within Trade Surveillance or Global Markets technology.
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience building backend services, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Experience designing and deploying scalable, production-grade software.
- Experience building Gen AI based Agentic Applications using Langgraph & CrewAI
- Knowledge of RESTful API design principles.
- Familiarity with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes or Docker.
- Hands-on experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Organized, detail-driven, and comfortable operating in fast-paced environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Agile practices (scrum, backlog refinement, sprint planning).
