Job Description:
This job is responsible for building and leading an organization to deliver technology products and services that meet strategic business outcomes. Key responsibilities include enabling the portfolio strategy by setting strategic technology outcomes, creating a resource and people development strategy, managing the financial and resource plan, advocating and advancing organizational agility, improving end-to-end processes, and promoting learning and improvement. Job expectations may include coaching, mentoring, and driving leadership succession planning and development of employees.

  • Own the end‑to‑end technology strategy and delivery for high‑value, low value payments and internal book transfers
  • Lead modernization to cloud, containerization, reducing dependency on 3rd party vendor products and building a engineering organization in-house
  • Lead modernization and scalability of DDA (Demand Deposit Account) platforms, ensuring high availability, resiliency, and regulatory compliance
  • Strong understanding of cross border payments, clearing schemes and swift framework
  • Drive payment processing resiliency, latency reduction, straight‑through processing (STP), and exception management
  • Drive real time payments and help build stateless payment services catalog
  • Enhance billing and pricing platforms
  • Drive Test automation and reduce manual testing in SDLC
  • Ensure payments platforms meet regulatory, audit, and compliance requirements (e.g., BSA/AML, OFAC, operational risk, resiliency standards)
  • Mentor and build a strong engineering team that is centered around client experience

Responsibilities:

  • Manages relationships with business and technology executives/sponsors and vendors for technical products and understands the work deliverables and performance of the Technology Management team by following outcomes from business and client feedback
  • Creates an inclusive and healthy working environment and helps to resolve organizational impediments/blockers by sponsoring opportunities that improve processes, staying close to teams and their experiences, and identifying new opportunities to enhance efficiency and gain a competitive advantage
  • Conducts portfolio level resourcing and financial management activities, establishes target outcomes through objectives and key results, tracks strategic technology outcomes aligned to the portfolio strategy, and promotes the organization and its resources to achieve them
  • Facilitates performance and career development of teams through performance reviews, coaching, and creating development plans that are needed to build competencies and skills
  • Establishes a culture of risk and compliance management, ensuring the organization is compliant with all applicable policies and standards
  • Ensures that execution is aligned with Portfolio strategy by working with Portfolio Product Executives and other value stream stakeholders
  • Manages procurement, vendor evaluations, and negotiating vendor contracts for technical products and services for the organization

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated capability to set and track strategic technology outcomes and build highly effective teams that deliver mission‑critical, highly available, high‑throughput payment systems.
  • Financial and resource management expertise for large payment portfolios.
  • Experience managing relationships with payment networks, vendors, and third‑party service providers.
  • Strong experience in containers, event driven architecture, API based solutions, noSQL DB solutions
  • Strong experience with test automation and developer led testing
  • Strong leadership in agile transformation, scalable delivery models, DevOps, and continuous improvement in the context of payment technology.
  • Ability to build high‑performing, inclusive teams and develop leadership bench strength in payment engineering and operations.
  • Strong risk management, resiliency planning, and operational excellence experience specific to payments (e.g., incident management, failover design, throughput optimization).
  • Ability to influence senior business and technology leaders and drive alignment across complex payment ecosystems.

Desired Qualifications

  • Technical & Domain Expertise
  • Expertise in modern payment architectures, including event‑driven processing, messaging queues, and high‑throughput transaction systems especially in high value payments
  • Experience with real‑time payment technologies ex. FedNow, RTP (The Clearing House), same‑day ACH, and next‑gen digital payment methods.
  • Strong background in API-led integration, open banking standards, and developer ecosystem enablement.
  • Strong understanding of Core banking DDA, Liquidity, Virtual accounts, Wallets PayerID, Beneficiary look-up platforms and banking solutions
  • Familiarity with tokenization, encryption, key management, and secure payment data handling.
  • Knowledge of authorization, clearing, and settlement flows across card and non-card payment channels.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native payment platforms, containers (Kubernetes), microservices, and resilient architecture patterns.
  • Understanding of fraud prevention technologies, machine‑learning‑based risk scoring, and transaction monitoring solutions.

  • Ability to articulate and deliver a multi‑year payment technology strategy, balancing innovation, compliance, resiliency, and business outcomes.
  • Experience leading organizations through payment platform modernization, including legacy decommissioning and migration to scalable, real‑time systems.

  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior business partners, regulatory teams, and external networks.
