Role Description:
The EMEA Technology team supports the Global Payments Solutions business across key areas including payments, credit, trade finance, loans, customer accounting, virtual accounts, and liquidity. Several regulatory and transformation initiatives are underway to align our technology landscape with our strategic objectives.
We are seeking a Functional Solution Architect to join the Bromley Analysis and Design team. In this role, you will engage early with business stakeholders, contribute to business analysis activities, document conceptual solutions, and define high level estimates. You will also develop High Level Designs and work closely with delivery teams as solutions are built and tested. The role involves influencing senior stakeholders across business and technology functions, as well as providing guidance and support to less experienced team members.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand, refine, and clearly articulate business needs and problem statements.
• Lead early engagement with business partners to shape conceptual designs, develop high‑level estimates, and provide technology guidance.
• Assess the scope and impact of proposed changes across Technology, Operations, and other supporting functions.
• Act as a liaison between business units, technology teams, delivery teams, and support functions to identify and propose optimal solution options.
• Capture functional‑level deliverables and requirements, including impacts on existing functionality and processes.
• Develop end‑to‑end High‑Level Designs for GPST EMEA policies across the corporate banking domain, including Payments, Client Liquidity, Trade Finance, Loans, and Virtual Account Management.
• Facilitate walkthroughs and reviews of requirements and solution designs with stakeholders, governance forums, and design authorities.
• Support delivery teams throughout the agile project lifecycle by providing ongoing clarification and design guidance.
What we are looking for:
• Experience in designing solutions within corporate banking domains such as Payments, Client Liquidity, Trade Finance, Loans, and Virtual Account Management.
• An understanding of major payment schemes, particularly within the UK, EU, and cross‑border payments.
• Experience working closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into solution designs.
• Background in delivering regulatory or compliance‑driven projects, with an understanding of relevant banking regulations.
• Demonstrated experience leading application design across multiple technology platforms.
• Extensive technical and data analysis expertise, working with a variety of architectural patterns and technologies.
• Experience evaluating and selecting vendor solutions and collaborating with vendors to integrate packages into a complex technology environment.
• Proven ability to provide technology leadership to distributed teams, including both onshore and offshore development teams.
• Experience defining end‑to‑end solution architecture, including integration patterns and interfacing technologies.
• An understanding of non‑functional requirements and designing solutions to meet them.
Skills that will help:
• Experience working with Agile project delivery methodologies.
• TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification.
• Experience designing or developing solutions within banking or financial services applications.
