The Team:

The Corporate Banking Financial Institutions team is looking to hire an Associate in Frankfurt given our growth ambitions in the country to cover German and Austrian Financial Institutions across all financial institution sectors - insurance, commercial and private banks and other regulated financial services businesses. The Corporate Banking FIG team is an established team of bankers based in locations across London, Paris, Frankfurt, Madrid and Zurich. The Frankfurt role will be a new post with the objective of supporting the growth in the German speaking regions.

Our Corporate bankers are experienced in the financial institutions sector and take the lead role in delivering a broad scope of products including financing, capital markets, transaction banking and global markets, all in close co-ordination with Investment Banking and product businesses.

Role Description: 

As a Corporate Banking Associate within the EMEA Financial Institutions Group (FIG), you will play a crucial role in supporting our team’s efforts to deliver exceptional service and innovative financial solutions to our German and Austrian FIG clients such as banks, insurance companies, asset managers and public sector institutions.

Your responsibilities will involve:

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the FIG industry, and help support the growth aspirations and day-to-day banking requirements of our FIG clients across the region

  • Take ownership of client meetings and project analyses which will lead you to develop expertise in the financial and analytical practices 

  • Structure, prepare and deliver client presentations

  • Support the team in the development of corporate finance analysis, gaining exposure to a broad range of products including bonds, loans, leases, treasury solutions, FX and rates

  • Work on live transactions and assist in the preparation of credit proposals and loan documents for new financing deals and credit renewals

  • Gain knowledge of market fundamentals and be able to make informed contributions on a broad array of financing strategies that address client’s specific needs

  • Work closely with Capital Markets, Payment Solutions and Global Markets teams on client coverage and origination

  • Provide support on ad-hoc tasks including KYC, pipeline tracking, company profiles and quarterly business reviews

  • Prepare client pitches including relationship overview, credentials and peer analysis

What we are looking for:

  • Outstanding mathematical and analytical skills are required

  • Proficient level of MS Excel and PowerPoint

  • Fluency in English essential, and German preferred

  • Meticulous attention to detail, diligence and conscientiousness

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills

  • Capable of working effectively both independently and with multiple teams/individuals

  • Educated to degree level (preferably in a numerical discipline such as economics or finance)
