Role Description:

As Credit Review Senior Examiner, you will use your Subject Matter Expertise in transactional credit to offer an independent assessment of credit decisions and the effectiveness of credit processes across the bank’s credit platform. You will identify existing and emerging risks, and reports your findings to various stakeholders, including executive management, the Board of Directors or committee thereof, external auditors and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities:

  • As a Subject Matter Expert in Counterparty/Transactional Credit, you will be tasked with the review of the more complex transactions.
  • You’ll provide expertise, advice and counsel based on advanced business and/or credit review experience to a complex business and/or across several business groups.
  • You will provide leadership for projects and team activities. Functional responsibilities include establishing Monitoring Plans for assigned credit portfolio, assessing associated Level and Direction of Risk ratings and acting as Examiner-in-Charge/EIC
  • You will proactively implement credit review strategy for the sound application of risk-based practices by defining scope, program, and review and exam procedures. You will exercise judgment and influence senior business managers and peers.
  • You will drive completion of credit issues.
  • This specific role will support ongoing testing and assessments of Structured Financing Transactions and Counterparty Credit Risk within Global Markets portfolios such as Asset backed Securitization, Hedge Funds, Asset Managers, Equities, Central Counterparties
  • You will participate in credit review examinations and continuous testing activities across various commercial credit portfolios within Enterprise Credit
  • You will work with examination teams to assess the quality of credit decisioning, portfolio management, risk recognition practices and the effectiveness of credit management processes.
  • You will also assist in the continuous testing of various portfolios by performing transaction reviews of new and existing clients to evaluate appropriateness of client selection, adherence to underwriting expectations, quality of ongoing monitoring and risk rating accuracy to proactively identify emerging risks and their impact on portfolio credit quality.
  • You will assist business partners to balance their business strategy with appropriate risk management controls.
  • You will contribute to the development, implementation and communication of Credit Review's missions, goals and strategies.
  • You’ll interact with regulatory agencies, external consultants, and other internal risk management groups.
  • You’ll assess and advise on the impact of industry-level, geo-political and economic trends to credit portfolios.

What we are looking for:

  • Seasoned commercial credit experience (direct lending, workout, risk management and/or regulatory)
  • Ability to support conclusions through fact-based analysis and ability to influence senior leaders.
  • Excellent credit analysis, project management and leadership skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks while delivering high quality results.
  • Expert Financial Analysis Skills
  • Experience in Internal Audit Review
  • Deep knowledge of Loan Structuring and underwriting
  • Experienced in Credit and Risk Assessment
  • Issue Management and Resolution
  • A strong knowledge of Regulatory Compliance
  • Excellent skills in building and maintaining business relationships.

Skills that will help:

  • Excellent direct commercial credit experience
  • Demonstrable experience in identifying, assessing and reporting on existing and emerging risks
  • Experience with direct applicability to Credit Review responsibility
  • Ability to coach/mentor new or less experienced associates
  • Strong Counterparty Credit Risk background and/or Global Markets experience
