Credit Associate - Global Markets

Global Markets Credit ("GMC") is responsible for ensuring robust and consistent credit underwriting for Global Markets lending activities, which includes financing facilities secured by mortgage related assets. Within GMC the Associate will be expected to develop subject matter expertise in US residential mortgage related financing products and credit analysis of the underlying companies. The associate will work closely with senior team members, banking and risk partners and help drive loan growth and portfolio management with minimal oversight. Coverage will include a portfolio of warehouse facilities, single-family-rental financings, trading and treasury lines.

Key responsibilities include:

- Assist credit officers with structuring, underwriting, and documenting credit solutions for clients and with managing client relationships

-serve as primary contact for a portfolio of clients via actively monitoring  including changes in credit profile and compliance with credit agreements

-assess the credit worthiness, including due diligence of borrowers and/or trading counterparties

-Establish appropriate internal risk ratings for clients and implement accurate adjustments throughout the client's credit life cycle

 - Partner with the front line unit in preparation of underwriting materials, creation and submission of credit approval memos, secure appropriate credit and risk approvals.

-Engage partners including other parts of Enterprise Credit, client coverage areas, legal, and market risk as required

 - Ongoing monitoring of transactions including client financial and portfolio performance, including escalation of any issues; periodic reporting on pipeline;

 - Support firm wide Enterprise Credit initiatives including adherence with administrative processes and liaise with applicable stakeholders across the firm on emerging topics as needed

 - Training and mentoring of credit analysts and interns

Required skills:  "Must" have these skills to be minimally qualified:

 BA/BS degree required; Finance, Accounting, or Economics majors preferred with strong academic credentials.

 - 3-5 years of experience in financial services.  Relevant prior experience may include roles in: credit risk management, credit underwriting, asset management, loan origination  

 - Robust understanding of corporate finance and accounting concepts

-Candidate should exhibit strong analytical skills, personal drive, individual initiative, a sense of urgency, and responsiveness, with a desire to grow, learn, and take on increasing levels of responsibility

  - Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively

  - Proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint, along with ability to quickly learn new programs and applications

  - High level of attention to detail
