Job Title:   Attorney – Fixed Income

Corporate Title: Assistant General Counsel and Director

Location:   London/Frankfurt

Role Description:

  • German speaking and German qualified lawyer to provide legal representation and support for the Global Markets business, including:

  • Supporting all aspects of the German derivatives, repo and stocklending business area.

  • Supporting the documentation teams in negotiation of German law trading documentation (master agreements, credit support documentation, confirmations).

  • Drafting and negotiating structured or deal contingent transactions under German law.

  • Reviewing netting and collateral opinions impacting German law trading documentation.

  • Negotiation of ancillary documentation such as confidentiality agreements/dealer mandates.

  • Supporting the Bank’s Swiss entity and, with support from external counsel, advising on Swiss listing and regulatory matters.

  • Assisting the wider team with support for the non-German law aspects of the fixed income business.

  • Liaising directly with the front office, clients, external counsel, relevant industry bodies and all internal support and control groups

The Team:

The candidate will be part of an established and collaborative team of eight derivatives lawyers.

The team supports the global rate derivatives and EMEA FX, repo, futures and OTC clearing businesses, including all flow and structured transactions in these products.  In addition, the team has responsibility for the implementation of global markets projects impacting derivatives (e.g. LIBOR and EONIA transition, counterparty defaults, Brexit, sanctions, cross border licensing, netting, analysis of clearing house and venue rules and the implementation of markets regulations such as EMIR, MIFID, BRRD II). The team also supports the derivatives documentation team and the confirmations team.

Key skills:

  • German law qualification.

  • Excellent German and English language skills

  • Excellent knowledge of and experience working with the German master agreement (Deutsche Rahmenvertrag), derivatives, repo and stocklending

  • Experience in either a financial institution or a law firm.
