Associate/ Vice President- Research Agency MBS Strategist

New York, New York

Job Description:

This is a fast paced, markets facing role in the Securitized Products Research Group at Bank of America Securities where an analyst, with fixed income and agency MBS expertise, has the opportunity to leverage mortgage and housing data, analytics, and models into value added views on the asset class, sectors within, and generate actionable ideas.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Regular participation with senior strategists across securitized products, rates, credit, and economics teams to contribute to key investment theses, sector views, and trade ideas.

  • Well-developed and demonstrated knowledge in developing and applying financial analysis techniques, specific to fixed-income, mortgages.

  • Operating knowledge of fixed income and mortgage mathematics, portfolio practices of the major holders of the asset class, mortgage models, and data sets.

  • Developed technical skills in mortgage modeling spanning prepayment forecasting, relative value, hedging of the benchmark sectors, including TBAs, specifieds, derivatives.

  • Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Ability to provide clarity on reasoning.

  • Familiar with housing policy issues impacting asset performance and size this impact.

  • Demonstrable communication skills, oral to written, and comfort to present on a prepared and ad hoc basis to the client audience.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree/ Min 3-5 years experience

  • Organizational skills, for oneself, the team and working with cross functional partners across data, IT, and modeling

  • Ability to train and develop talent.

  • Use standard industry tools, Bloomberg, Excel, Yield Book, SQL, or similar
