Mainframe z/OS Software Engineer - Core Technology Infrastructure

Job Description:

Mainframe Engineer required for the new foundational processes we are building for the mainframe (Engineering – Design and application integration functions, DevOps – CI/CD, Deployment and Lower Level Support).

The Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for matching current technology with the needs of the company. As part of this task, the engineer engages in the maintenance and support of tools that supports a variety of users. This requires fundamental knowledge of the Mainframe zOS operating system and a solid understanding of Mainframe Z System Automation, IBM NetView for zOS and Mainframe operations.

Required Skills

• Information Technology professional with 5-7 years of experience
• Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience with fundamental knowledge of the Mainframe z/OS operating system and a solid understanding of Mainframe automation and Mainframe operations
• Mainframe REXX programming experience
• IBM NetView for zOS knowledge
• Tivoli Z System Automation experience
• Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions
• Ability to write and maintain documentation
• Ability to work on a 24x7 on call rotation
• Understanding of Network infrastructure (HTTP/S, TCP/IP, TLS,DNS, Load-balancers, firewalls, proxies, B2B links)
• Experience with Release Deploy Tools:  Ansible, Ansible Tower, XLR, BitBucket, Celestial
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong attention to detail
 

Desired Skills

• Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

• Prior Bank of America experience
• Worked with WebSphere Extreme Scale, Mainframe Administration
• DEVOPS experience
• Other products:  BMC Remedy, Harmon mDeliver

Leads and/or participates in the design, development, and implementation of complex system engineering activities involving cross-functional technical support, systems programming and data center capabilities. Responsible for components of highly complex engineering and/or analytical tasks and activities. Establishes input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility, coordination of subsystems design, and integration of total system. Viewed as a technology subject matter expert; able to provide and communicate complex technology solutions across differing audiences including technical, managerial, business executives, and/or vendors. Will have responsibility for multiple, complex projects; will direct activities of teams related to special initiatives or operations and may have direct reports. Leads the resolution process for complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. Information Technology degree and/or technology certifications preferred or substantial equivalent experience. Typically 7-10 years of IT experience
