Position Description

The China Corporate Credit Analyst will be responsible for the credit coverage of Chinese corporates. The individual will research existing corporate bonds with the objective of producing reports and recommendations. Our analysts are expected to provide in-depth credit analysis on the issuers’ business, industry and capital structure to produce value-added investment ideas for today's credit-driven financial markets. 

We are looking for an individual with at 3-5 years’ experience in credit fundamental research. Although preferred coverage will be APAC, candidates coming from different regions will also be considered. Candidates with fundamental analysis experience from equity research, buy-side credit research and rating agencies will also be considered. 

Global Credit Research & GEM Fixed Income Strategy encompasses High Grade, High Yield, Credit Strategy, Credit Derivatives, Mortgages and other Structured Finance, Municipals, Indices, EM Credit Strategy and EM Corporate Credit Research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent, fundamental high yield credit research.

  • Analyze and explain risks that impact a borrower’s ability to repay its debt from company, industry and macro perspectives, both short term and long term.

  • Create and maintain financial models including financial projections, analyzing key financial metrics to differentiate improving from deteriorating credits.

  • Assimilate and filter information from various sources; distinguishing between noise and market moving events

  • Apply relative value metrics, seeking investments that generate above-average returns commensurate with the level of risk taken.

  • Make written overweight, marketweight and or underweight investment recommendations incorporating the fundamental and technical credit outlook.

  • Communicate credit opinions and recommendations orally and in writing to internal & external clients.

  • Interact and maintain strong relationship with corporates, rating agencies and investment professionals, including fixed income and equity analysts.

Key Requirements

  • College degree and five years of relevant work experience

  • Most critical attributes are solid analytical skills, strong business acumen and effective communication skill. Ability to demonstrate these attributes on both an individual and group level.

  • Experience with financial statement analysis with deep attention to details without losing the big picture.

  • Experience with creating and maintaining financial models, able to identify key business drivers to perform sensitivity analysis

  • Experience understanding and evaluating creditworthiness.

  • Ability to make judgments call backed by relevant analysis

  • Inquisitive nature, driven to excel in all aspects of the analytical process.

  • Flexible, responsive and self-starting personality. Open-minded thought process and intellectual honesty.

  • Willingness to pursue and explore ideas and potential investment opportunities.

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal in both English and Mandarin  

Desired Skills (if any)

  • Familiar with Bloomberg and Wind database
