Job Description:
The US rates strategy group is responsible for generating financial market research, forecasts, and trade ideas across US & Canadian rates markets. The team covers duration, curve, front end, inflation protected securities, spreads, agency debt, vol, and supply / demand topics. The team partners with key business partners across sales & trading + other business lines throughout the firm. We are looking for someone to support the team & develop into a strong research analyst.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as key member of Bank of America interest rate strategy team and in support of team production
- Work closely with senior members of the team in markets analysis & research production
- Conduct macroeconomic, market, and interest rate analysis to formulate views and trades in the rates market
- Support stand-out thematic research with a focus on trade idea generation and monetizable ideas across US rates
- Assist in production of weekly research pieces on macro and micro views on wide range of factors affecting interest rates including monetary policy, fiscal policy and global macro-economic developments
- Work with the sales force in maintaining relationships with clients by updating with latest market developments, conference calls and one-on-one meetings
- Use applied statistics to help generate and inform views
- Periodic travel may be required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Finance, Economics, Statistics or related) or equivalent years of experience
- 1-2 years of experience in relevant field + demonstrated interest in US interest rates / macroeconomics
- Background in economic & financial market analysis + applied statistics / econometrics
- Demonstrated ability to manage large data sets and conduct macro & financial markets analysis
- Excellent communication (written & verbal), presentation, & interpersonal skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong work ethic are required
- Proven organizational and time management skills as well as ability to work under pressure
- Capable of working effectively both independently and with multiple teams/individuals
- Familiarity in R or Matlab is a plus, but not required
