Job Description:
This job is responsible for supporting analytical work efforts for various projects within a Line of Business or business discipline. Key responsibilities include leveraging databases to acquire client and performance data, transforming extracted data into meaningful insights and trends, and delivering those insights to leaders to make complex business decisions. Job expectations include working with business partners to understand, coordinate, and deliver agreed upon priorities while communicating complex data outputs and delivering the appropriate summary and data required.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the extraction of data using a variety of a programming languages, such as SQL, SAS, Python, or Spark/Scala, and applies knowledge of relational and non-relational database systems housed on both on-premise and off-premise (hybrid) platforms
  • Connects provisioned data across multiple sources and performs necessary transformations utilizing both technical, business, and process knowledge to transform data into meaningful values and insights
  • Performs quantitative techniques and analysis on customer, transaction, and performance data with the guidance from other analysts and supervisors, based on questions provided by business partners, and provides actionable insights for business partners to make informed decisions.
  • Follows requirements developed by other analysts and supervisors to perform required research, analytics, and exploration on appropriate and accurate data sources to provide appropriate deliverables
  • Communicates complex subjects in a simple and engaging manner to non-technical and technical business partners using software such as Power Point, Word, Excel, and Tableau
  • Assists with conducting quality comparison checks on analysis output and escalates data inconsistencies, gaps, or issues to leadership
  • Follows quality workflow process and documentation requirements to adhere to standards and provide business continuity

This role will collaborate with Consumer and Small Business Anti-Money Laundering to understand and assess their data, processes, and technology to support strategic data initiatives, remediate deficiencies, and drive business requirements. 

This analyst will build deep knowledge of data domains, supporting systems, data governance, and financial services risk management concepts. 

This analyst will drive quality and consistency and leverage standardized templates, tools, design practices to promote high quality deliverables and consistent practices across lines of business.

This analyst will ultimately document the end-to-end data lineage ecosystem for CSB AML.

This analyst  will work with Data Lineage Leader to:

  • Consult with data stewards, process owners, subject matter experts, technical experts, end users and other stakeholders to gather information about the current and target state business process, data attributes and data sources, control features, interfaces with other systems required
  • Document and provide definitions for processes and procedures, data models, data quality controls, data lineage, and data dictionaries using industry standard methods including business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, diagrams, flow charts, etc.
  • Analyze information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, segment high-level information into details, and abstract up from low-level information to a general understandin
  • Assess and identify deficiencies against internal policies and standards or industry best practices, providing formal recommendations and requirements to remediate
  • Collaborate and partner with technology teams, architects, and other key stakeholders to drive solutions which provide ongoing operational excellence and resiliency to metadata and control environment challenges
  • Review and provide input to technical solution designs from a business point of view and recommend alternatives
  • Communicate plans, progress and risks appropriately to the stakeholders and sponsors

Technical Expertise

  • Demonstrates the application of innovative technical solutions to solving complex data intensive challenges
  • Has or develops a depth of product understanding
  • 2+ years working with multiple databases, data structures, data modeling and data mapping
  • Understanding of business process design, data provisioning design, and dynamic movement of data through an application ecosystem
  • Comfortable with the application of digital technology and inclusion of metadata, lineage, and controls as part of application design

Qualifications

LOB Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in business, computer science, system analysis, Information Systems or related field
  • Strong process/systems analysis, design and documentation
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to monitor tight deadlines and adapt to unexpected requirement changes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to lead discussions with counterparts
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work on one’s own with a strong sense of ownership and accountability in high-pressure situations 
  • Familiarity with Consumer & Small Business Banking
  • Understanding or experience of programming in SQL
  • Familiarity with databases and file systems, such as Oracle, Hadoop (SDP), etc. 
  • Direct experience successfully working with second and third lines of defense (i.e. -compliance, audit) to build a defensible program.
  • Understanding of Risk Management and Data Management Principles
