Process Overview

GCOR Trade Surveillance team monitors firm’s trading activity from a market abuse/market manipulation perspective. Global trade surveillance activities are designed to adhere to financial services laws, rules and regulations to determine whether key controls are operating as intended and are effective in terms of mitigating compliance risk (e.g. compliance policy, standard or procedure). Continuous surveillance of business activities is performed through automated systems (SMARTS, Actimize etc.) and filters. Surveillance is also performed through patterns and trends analysis, and manual reviews.  This team in Trade surveillance will work very closely with the Global Trade Surveillance teams to conduct surveillance efforts on equity, fixed income and derivatives trading.

Job Description

Individuals will be part of the senior leadership team within Trade Surveillance supporting one of the global regions (AMRS, EMEA and APR). This role needs advanced expertise in stakeholder engagement, matrix leadership alignment, and regional business variations. The leader has end to end accountability for the performance of the team monitoring trading activities across multiple asset classes for market abuse and manipulation. The incumbent will effectively lead and deliver on key initiatives that align to the global strategy, optimize the overall experience, and work agilely with the global leaders, global process owners, and key stakeholders. 

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidates will be responsible for driving the operational performance of the GBS organization by managing a team that performs trade surveillance activities on SMARTS and Actimize application, review alerts for market manipulation, restricted and watch listed securities, obtain deal updates (from Investment Bankers) – when needed for watch list reviews, monitor trading activity using various exceptions-based reports.
  • Providing expertise around regional business requirements, building strong relationships and synergies within the team and with key business partners and adherence to local rules, laws and regulations.
  • Design and execution strategic initiatives for the team and work together with the global teams on delivering transformation and end to end process redesign and reengineering.
  • Communicate, influence, and negotiate vertically and horizontally. Obtain or leverage necessary resources, articulate role and performance, advocate for the team.
  • Reducing operational risk by partnering with the larger team on OPEX initiatives, identify process improvement areas, liaise with relevant support function to bring the idea to fruition.
  • Manage and mitigate risks across processes and functions. This includes review and identification of risk and necessary remediation to close gaps in control measures.

Requirements:

Education

  • Post Graduate in any field

Experience Range

18 + years of Experience in Trade Surveillance / Pre-trade / Post-trade / Real Time Surveillance

Foundational Skills

  • Experience in capital markets operations with a thorough understanding of trade life cycle and surveillance functions
  • Working knowledge of derivative products
  • Experience with client management, issues management and client service.
  • Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate clearly and effectively through the senior executive level.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Familiarity with Regulatory Requirements of different regions
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in working with Surveillance applications like Actimize, SMARTS.
  • Ability to work in a high-energy and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, assist in critical items/projects and those that require extensive research, while independently prioritizing his/her workload
  • Ability to analyze large sets of data to develop and present executive level reporting
  • Experience in operating on a global scale, across multiple functions/regions and with multiple stakeholders.
