Equity Research - Analyst/ Associate: Technology, Enterprise Software

Job Description:

The Technology and Software Equity Research team covers more than 55 listed issuers, vetting over 50 potential IPOs in the sector with over $3 trillion market cap making it one of the most important sectors to Trading, Sales, Global Wealth and Investment Management.

The ideal candidate will have between one to four years of experience in markets or experience focusing on the technology/software sector. This role works alongside their Senior Analyst and Junior Analyst peers in all aspects from idea generation to company meetings, and will play a critical part in providing the financial modeling and qualitative analysis for ECC meetings, sales teach-ins and eventual coverage launch.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex financial modeling & valuation work
  • Write regular industry and company reports and company launch initiations from scratch
  • Analyze data in market research databases
  • Demonstrate strong industry knowledge and business judgment
  • Interview industry experts regarding our covered companies and industries
  • Work with Senior Analysts to develop key industry themes
  • Build relationships and facilitate information flow with contacts at covered companies
  • Participate and contribute to client meetings and events
  • Attend meetings and interact with key opinion leaders
  • Closely follow and understand market, industry and company specific activity, and relay to analyst when traveling
  • Seek out new, unusual sources of information to augment our research capabilities
  • Respond to research inquiries from our institutional investor clients during market hours

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience
  • 1-4 years of experience focusing on the technology /software sector (equity research, buy side experience or investment banking experience)
  • Strong writing and modeling skills (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement in Excel)
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely about technology, business, and other complex topics
  • Ability to comprehend and create charts, diagrams, tables and other data visualizations
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced and intense environment.
  • Must enjoy following the stock market and doing desktop and field research
  • Along with Finance and Accounting, should have basic understanding of economics, macroeconomic factors, international affairs, and policy/politics
  • Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Must have strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task
  • Must work well in a collaborative team environment

California pay and benefits information

California pay range:

$110,000 - $175,000 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.
