Job Description:
As regional product lead and asset class specialist, this job is responsible for both regional oversight and execution of markets surveillances over our principal and client activities, to identify cases of market abuse and or market misconduct generally.

Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting, investigating and processing of potential market misconduct cases in accordance with documented procedures and collaborating with Compliance and Operational Risk officers to drive effective risk mitigation and outcome management.
  • Teaching team members on the principals and various forms of market misconduct topologies and how to identify, investigate and process escalations effectively.
  • Overseeing, and ensuring effective execution of our trade surveillance routines by our regional specialists and our offshore operational surveillance teams.
  • Assist in planning and preparation for regulatory exams and audits, prepare and gather documents to respond to regulatory inquiries.
  • Lead, contribute and participate in multiple special projects as an experienced subject matter expert of a processes and/or projects.
  • Build strong relationships and collaborate with the business and other risk partners including FLU, GCOR, Operational Risk and Legal partners.
  • Directing and teaching entry and junior-level surveillance analysts.
  • Monitor for changes in market mechanics, regulatory focus, and lead the development and implementation of new controls as needed, to reduce our exposure and effectively mitigate or substantially reduce market misconduct risks.
  • Collaborates with Compliance and Operational Risk officers and/or Front Line Unit process owners on the identification of market misconduct themes and trends that may indicate need for greater focus. 
  • Perform quality assurance through blind peer review sampling across products and regions.
  • Look for opportunities to lift and drive the shift of mature controls to offshore surveillance operations teams.

Required Skills

  • Familiar with trade surveillance related external laws, rules, regulation, internal policies, standards and procedures (such as Market Conduct Risk Framework) and industry guidance
  • Familiarity with Broker Dealer or Broker Dealer experience
  • Experience using surveillance tools such as SMARTS/Actimize Surveillance
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Equities / FICC business and products experience
  • Ability to test across multiple lines of business
  • Adaptability to dynamic work environment with multiple priorities and strict deadlines.
  • Experience in drafting policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to communicate through verbal, written and interpretational communication skills to all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent understanding of business, markets and products
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a dynamic environment
  • Languages including Cantonese, Putonghua, Korean and or Japanese
