Role Description:

Market Risk Manager for EMEA Commodities, reporting to the Head of Commodities risk, supporting crucial risk management oversight and analysis for a broad range of trading activities within the Commodities line of business. Resource to support business focused on 1) Building franchise in Power and Gas in Paris across a series of energy markets (Germany, France, Spanish and UK power) and expanding in Canada energy market; 2) Expand the trading of ferrous and non-ferrous metals in exchanges in Asia/China (one of the largest pools of liquidity for this market).

Responsibilities:

  • Providing oversight of identification of market risk exposures and mitigation strategies and resolutions in accordance with the bank's limits, as well as regulatory requirements, as applicable
  • Providing oversight of risk requests, breach remediations and providing risk effective challenges for front line units
  • Overseeing development of market risk coverage plans, execution of monitoring, testing and risk assessments, and market risk reporting for specific products
  • Liaising with businesses to understand market trends and impacts on portfolio, using knowledge of stress testing and its applicability to market risk
  • Ensuring adherence to the policies and procedures established by the company  
  • To foster a culture of continuous improvements and risk awareness across the organization at all level of seniority, especially related to the products traded in Global Commodities.

What we are looking for:

  • A solid academic background, which may include a postgraduate qualification.
  • Good people skills demonstrated across various communication styles (both written and verbal)
  • Knowledge of financial markets, ideally with a solid understanding of Macroeconomics
  • An understanding of financial derivatives and modelling
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize across several competing demands, meeting tight deadlines

  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Highly motivated with the drive and potential to learn from others
  • Previous experience as a Risk Manager working directly with the Front Line and performing risk analysis is desirable
