Job Description:
 

This position plays a key role within the Institutional Product and Distribution team within the Workplace Benefits line of business. Health Benefits Consultant Relations works both independently and with the broader Consultant Relations and Health Benefits Distribution teams to manage our relationships across various consulting firms and key influencers who advise our clients and prospects in common. The role requires strategy design and implementation associated with servicing clients in common with consultants as well as developing additional consultant advocacy and growing these relationships. This design and implementation of strategies will align our capabilities, value proposition and research insights with the strategies and perspectives of the various consultancies, their clients, and the industry. The candidate will work with the line of business partners to define and execute the strategic vision, as well as the day-to-day initiatives, to support Health Benefits business growth. This role will function as the Health Benefits subject matter expert for key stakeholders in our business.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and grow relationships with key influencers in the Health Benefits space, including key consultants, with the objective of cultivating support for our product suite and strengthening the Bank of America brand

  • Build advocacy for our capabilities across the various stakeholders

  • Coordinating with Health Benefits Sales to ensure consistency in messaging and execution

  • Identify market trends and new business opportunities

  • Contribute to strategy and business development projects on an as needed basis

  • Contribute to the development of metrics, dashboards, and roadmaps to support our consultant relationship strategy

  • Keep abreast of consultant activity occurring with our existing clients as well as our target clients; translate key insights to internal stakeholders  

  • Attend and actively engage in industry events and conferences to remain visible in the market and remain current on industry trends and competitors’ services / offerings

  • Execute coverage model, including completing Consultant office visits, virtual meetings and calls

    • Maintenance of Consultant contact database (Salesforce)

    • Weekly maintenance of Consultant profiles and call reports (Salesforce)

    • Establishing new prospect leads sourced via Consultants

    • Soliciting RFPs and RFIs that progress to active searches

    • Performing formal debriefs with consultants, as needed  

  • Support overall Health Benefits growth goals, including successful RFPs and strong win rates

  • Ensure risk management activities are conducted and captured where applicable; serve as the interface for regulatory, reputational matters between consulting firms and the Bank of America

Requirements:

  • 8+ years experience in covering consultants, with strong existing relationships with consulting firms and senior consulting executives; recognized as an expert in the industry, product, or region

  • Expert knowledge of financial industry and Health Benefits client segment, including business models, players, new entrants, significant trends, and outlook

  • Ability to travel between 50% ~75%

  • Deep understanding of the institutional channel and Health Benefits landscape with a proven track record of successfully growing brand and assets

  • Professional presentation skills and meeting management skills

  • People skills and ability to quickly form meaningful working partnerships

  • Technical understanding of platforms to enable succinct articulation of the benefits of capabilities and solutions

  • Self-motivated and disciplined about setting and achieving objectives, meeting deadlines with limited oversight

  • Demonstrated expertise in consultant relations coverage models and strategy, tracking activity metrics with monthly dashboards, finalist meeting prep, consultative selling and influencing skills training

  • Strong leadership; ability to instill confidence key stakeholders, internally and externally

  • Commercial focus while growing the bottom line while mitigating / managing risk

  • Intellectual curiosity; desire to constantly learn and continuously improve

  • Excellent ability to develop and maintain trust-based relationships with key stakeholders

  • Ability to inspire others to action and able to draw on broader teams to deliver a superior outcome for clients and the firms

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred; MBA a plus along with licenses (series 7 and 63 or ability to obtain within Compliance deadlines) and professional designations in investments or benefits

Colorado pay and benefits information

Colorado pay range:

$172,500 - $229,800 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group; and the overall success of the Company.
