Position Description

This role as Operations Consultant under Credit Operations is responsible for the day-to-day operations of loan administration operations to ensure first class client experience for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Corporate Banking Sales and Credit Officers to close and execute Tokyo Branch-booked loans and commitment facilities. Liaise with Finance, Treasury, Agency and Leasing teams, both locally and globally for the booking processes of loan products. Manage disbursement and renewal of loans as loan administrator for external stakeholders such as borrowers and agent banks.

  • Manage Credit Documentation Files for Tokyo Branch. Day-to-day tasks including verification of signatures, distribution of relevant documents to the involved teams/lines of businesses, preparation of checklists, and to ensure files are reviewed by Credit Officers.

  • Ensure all transactions are accurately processed by the Bank’s process servicing center in India, while ensuring branch-oriented information is shared timely and accurately with the relevant processing teams.

  • Ensure timely reconciliation and review of reports.

  • Prepare regulatory reports regarding loans and credits. Ensure credit and loan-related data are appropriately reported accurately and consistently as well as being compliant with the reporting guidelines.

  • Maintain the expected quality standards to ensure client’s needs are met, and continued effort is made to exceed the client’s expectations.

  • Understand the risks associated with the Products and its related processes. Ensure risks are identified and minimized.

  • Lead or participate in internal initiatives/projects representing the voice of the business, taking ownership, and delivering the execution of these projects.

  • Demonstrate key attributes for success including ability to pay attention to detail, being a team player, take end-to-end ownership, drive results to grow the business, as well as sustaining intensity and optimism while focusing on the client.

Key Requirements

  • At least 5 years’ working experience in banking industry. Cross-border loan related working experience is preferred.

  • Knowledge of overall banking products and documents.

  • Knowledge of loan administration – review and understand loan agreements / structure of loan regarding operational matters, cash-flow, and funding arrangements, etc.

  • Ability to quickly absorb and follow policies and procedures, demonstrate ability to continuously learn and adapt with a proactive work ethic.

  • Communication and interpersonal skills – ability to work with our clients and business partners, to positively influence people, to handle difficult conversations, and to be a good team player.

  • Organization skills – ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks to support business and clients as well as ability to work under pressure and achieve goals.

  • Critical thinking skills – ability to assess quantitative and qualitative data to identify key themes that require deeper analysis and assessment.

  • Problem solving skills – ability to understand issues and provide solutions, to look at a problem from a new perspective and to develop/share new ideas.

  • Integrity – attitude to do the right thing for the bank and its clients as well as ability to escalate potential issues to senior management timely.

  • Flexible and adaptable to change. Strong commitment with positive and proactive attitude towards challenge.

  • Ability to communicate fluently with internal and external stakeholders in Japanese and English, both orally and written.

  • General PC, Windows, Microsoft Office knowledge (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
