Job Description

  • This role will act as the India Country Head of Global Markets Operations (GMO), located in Mumbai
  • Oversight of ~ 40-45 team members in country
  • The role is a direct report to the regional Head of GMO
  • The India Head of Market Operations is the oversight and governance lead for all Market Operations functions (as it relates to India entities) for all stakeholders and business partners. 
  • This role will act as the dedicated and centralized manager of India Operations (GMO) deliverables as they pertain to regulatory, audit and market-driven requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the integrity of day to day controls and governance across processed by the GMO teams which provides end to end support to local entities in India
  • Liaison stakeholders including:
    • Line of Business e.g Equity & FICC front office
    • Finance
    • Technology
    • Exchanges and Industry Forums
  • Managing internal and external audits / inspections etc as GMO representative
  • Participating as GMO representative in regional / country / entity leadership meetings
  • Coordinating with regional and global teams to execute initiatives and activities for the region
  • Coordinating regional strategic planning (including location strategy, expense management, forecasting and allocations) for India GMO
  • Maintain a robust control environment for governance and oversight, remediation and new products
  • Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of Ops metrics, analysis and reporting framework
  • Embed policy and governance frameworks to ensure effective risk management and regulatory compliance
  • Lead the implementation of policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, across the operations portfolio of work
  • Be aware of operational risks, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, and any impact of new technologies.
  • Embed conduct risk
  • Demonstrate leadership for teams to drive innovative solutions towards global, regional and local priorities

The successful candidate will have a proven track record delivering regulatory engagement projects, having built a strong and broad network of contacts across India financial industry. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated their ability to independently run large-scale, high-focus programs of work focused on improvement / streamlining / delivering industry best-practice solutions.

Required Skills

Knowledge of the complex India regulatory landscape especially the fast pace of changes
Clear understanding of clearing houses such as CCIL, NSCL and ICCL and Regulators such as RBI, SEBI, FEDAI etc

Strong Product knowledge especially OTC Derivative products

  • Excellent communication skills and natural relationship builder
  • Establishes active participation / membership of industry forums and with local regulators 
  • Strong leadership background with team management and influence.
  • Strong understanding of large complex organizations and how to navigate to deliver.
  • Broad influence across functions and organizational levels and the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders 
  • Excellent multi-tasking, time management and organization skills
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Ability to work independently and be results driven
  • Ability to face off with senior business leaders, clients, and regulators

  • Take a lead on Influencing and development of efficient work environment and processes
  • Partner Closely with Technology, GBO team & Front Office to run the businesses
  • Work closely with other managers within Global Market Operations, Legal and Compliance to ensure consistent awareness of changing regulatory environment.

Desired Skills

  • Business Management / Project Management experience
  • Global Markets Operations exposure / thorough knowledge of transaction life cycle in multiple products.
  • Knowledge of India law, rules and regulations required
  • Interaction with regulatory bodies
