The Team:

Here in the Bank of America Paris office, we are seeking talented individuals who want a career in Finance to help grow our business and realise a rewarding long-term career in the Investment Banking industry.

The Valuation Specialist will join the wider Global Valuation Group (GVG) Methodology team at Bank of America. GVG is part of the Global Banking and Markets CFO group, providing valuation control guidance/support to Global Banking and Global Markets Finance.

This role will be focused on developing and challenging independent product valuation methodologies mainly on Global Markets products.  Responsibilities also include involvement with model review and market data calibration. The successful candidate will leverage a combination of quantitative knowledge of financial markets and products with a practical understanding of pricing and risk management suitable for critically evaluating the results of control procedures applied.

The Role:

  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the financial products, market risk profile and risk mitigation techniques and strategies within the EU legal entities.

  • Work with Finance, Infrastructure teams, and other groups as necessary, to ensure that BofA has a consistent valuations framework that meets requirements, internal and external, providing effective balance sheet control.

  • Create, enhance and document independent product valuation methodologies

  • Review and challenge the Valuation Control execution & documentation, including Independent Price Verification, Fair Value Hierarchy categorisation & Prudent Valuation reporting.

  • Perform in depth analysis of valuation issues and communicate findings to senior stakeholders

  • Reviewing daily/monthly Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet

  • Coordinating senior management and regulatory business initiatives to ensure we have cross region and cross LOB consistencies.

  • Engage in ad-hoc project work to drive efficiency and enhancement to our routines.

What we look for?

Essential

  • Previous large, complex financial services organization experiences performing valuation control / risk management / model development with technical product expertise

  • Proven management skills with a track record of supporting and developing quantitative resources

  • Proven leadership skills required; ability to drive strategic vision, as well as develop and implement new governance and control frameworks

  • Confident communication skills with ability to communicate complex issues in a simple manner

  • Proactive attention to detail, with organisational skills to effectively manage competing deadlines and pro-active management escalation

Preferred

  • Prior experience influencing and collaborating with stakeholders across functions/divisions

  • Experience of regulatory and senior management interaction

  • Programming skills with ability to design, develop and automate

  • Bachelor's Degree, Master’s degree is preferred in finance or equivalent experience

  • Experience across multiple products is preferred, but deep technical expertise in a reduced product set is acceptable if the candidate is expandable

  • Good accounting knowledge, ideally with comfort in both financial accounting and regulatory reporting concepts

  • Understands and applies knowledge of financial concepts, principles, products, and other relevant financial information
