Job Description

This role is responsible for providing moderately complex research, reporting and analytical support for the delivery of end-to-end support for Global Markets sales, trading and underwriting business for securities, foreign exchange, fixed income, exchange traded derivatives and over-the-counter derivatives across multiple lines of business. Duties are carried out under general supervision, following established procedures. These individuals may assist more experienced teammates.

Working as part of a team, this position is responsible for the timely and accurate settlement of financial products for Merrill Lynch Canada Inc. The department is responsible for the settlement of all fixed income and equity products.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise in relation to data processed in the area. 

  • Participate in the daily activities of the settlements area. 

  • Work with colleagues to manage data in ‘spreadsheet’ type applications. 

  • Work with the team to identify opportunities to make processing flows more efficient. 

  • Problem resolution: Identify, investigate and devise corrective action. 

  • Work well under pressure with daily deadlines

  • Maintains accuracy of client portfolio using internal and external comparison tools

  • Performs research and conducts moderately complex analyses using established techniques; including transactions that require special handling and/or exception handling

  • Explores methods to enhance processes, further reduce risks and boost client experience

  • Create reports; may liaise with internal partners to ensure proper client reporting and assist with regulatory reporting.

  • Create, document, and implement technical solutions. 

  • Escalate potential risks and exposures to manager in a timely manner

  • May assist in ad-hoc projects, new processes or initiatives requiring coordination among subject matter experts representing multiple product areas or functions

Professional Qualifications:

  • Proven organizational and time management skills. 

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage your relationships within custodian, and internal & external clients.  Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. 

  • Demonstrated success working in a team environment. 

  • Ability to work collaboratively on projects and well as independently. 

  • Ability to work flexible hours, end of day is approximately 5:30pm.

  • Brokerage and industry experience beneficial but not necessary. 

  • Canadian Securities Course beneficial but not necessary. 

  • Excel skills an asset
