The BCBS 239 Strategy Team is a part of the Enterprise Data Strategy, Governance, and Operations organization within the Global Strategy and Enterprise Platform division. The team plays a critical role in defining the necessary controls that each front-line unit, control function and key material entities must follow to demonstrate enterprise adherence to the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision’s Principles for effective risk data aggregation and risk reporting (BCBS 239). The team is responsible for developing and maintaining the Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting – Enterprise Policy which establishes requirements for Bank of America to manage risk in business-as-usual environments and during stress or crisis environments.
This Senior Data Architect opportunity is a high-profile role which will provide the individual with broad exposure across the enterprise working with enterprise policy owners, FLU/CF Data Management leaders, business process owners, Risk and Audit partners. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of the enterprise policy governance process, experience leading change, skilled at developing relationships across the organization and experience responding to internal Audit and external regulatory reviews.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading large engagements related to the BCBS 239 regulations for the enterprise to ensure alignment with the broader data management strategy.
Defining quantitative metrics and targets which will articulate and measure adherence to BCBS 239 principles across the data life cycle.
Partnering with FLU/CF Data Management Executives across the firm to better understand data management related Audit Issues, their Risk Data Reporting, their business processes related to data management and their risk data incidents
Providing direct and ongoing input regarding the management of the enterprise policy, quality assurance, and reporting
The successful candidate must:
Have hands-on, applied experience with BCBS 239 Risk Data Aggregation Principles, or data risk management
Have a working knowledge of risk management and regulatory interactions
Have strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail
Have strong written, verbal, presentation creation and delivery skills
Have strong project/time management skills, including the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
Be enthusiastic, highly motivated, and execution-oriented with minimal direction and guidance
Be a results-oriented, self-starter with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently
Be able to cultivate strong partnerships, working across multiple teams to effectively influence stakeholders
Be able to analyze problems and identify both tactical and strategic solutions
Be able to learn quickly to absorb and understand new information
Desired Skills:
Have 7+ years of work experience in financial services industry
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience; Advanced degree preferred
Previous experience standing-up a new function or cross enterprise initiatives is highly valued

Enterprise Role Overview:
Directs, manages, plans and administers the operational and administrative activities of the Systems Architecture section. Develops, plans and schedules the development, introduction, communication and maintenance of the corporate systems architecture including the applications, data, and infrastructure architectures and assures that this architecture is integrated with the business area architectures and data governance. Assures that the corporate architecture is consistent with disaster recovery plan objectives. Develops reports and presentations on infrastructure products and new technology for all levels of management and technical staff. Coordinates the development of the overall project plans and timetables. Manages budget, monitors progress and adjusts resources and priorities accordingly. Provides input on policy issues.
