Role Description:

A senior functional Scala developer is required for Bank of America supporting Swaps IT group. This is a global front-office team that supports the global Equity Swap business.  You will be responsible for developing critical NextGen Swaps components for trade capture and booking, liaising closely with the business users to elicit and document their requirements, producing release notes, providing support in the UAT testing stages, coordinating release signoff, providing bug fixes, assisting in the production deployment activities, and providing ongoing production support post-deployment. The candidate should possess good business analytical skills, strong software engineering skills, a logical approach to problem solving, be able to work in a fast paced environment liaising with demanding stakeholders to understand complex requirements, and be able to prioritize work under pressure with minimal supervision.

A long-established global Swaps Technology team.  A high performing team with a passion for solving complex business problems through innovation and solid engineering practices. A successful candidate will be expected to apply their depth of knowledge and expertise to all aspects of the software development lifecycle, as well as partner continuously with our global technical leads / scrums in order to reach our common goals. You'll work in a collaborative, high performing, thought-provoking environment - one that encourages creative thought and solutions that are in the best interests of our front and middle office userbase.  A successful 2021/22, with a string of high-profile deliverables, the team are heading into 2023 with strong business backing and big expectations for the year ahead.

Core Skills:

Key responsibilities include

  • Member of the Swaps technology development team, building and supporting solutions for processing of Swaps trading activity.
  • Understand complex business requirements and apply simple, clean solutions to meet their needs
  • Dealing with large data sets, relational and object databases
  • Liaise with support teams in all regions and ensure production issues are resolved in a timely manner

Qualifications:

  • Equity Swaps knowledge
  • Experienced developer with at least 8 years of industry experience
  • Relevant education such as a B.Sc. in relevant subject such as Computer Science or the equivalent experience and qualifications.

Skills:

  • Experience and expertise in building enterprise level applications in core Scala
  • Number of  years Scala Experience
  • Functional Programming experience in an appropriate language - Scala, Haskell, etc..
  • Experience in building high-throughput, fault tolerant systems
  • Experience in working with low latency middleware / messaging platforms and associated design patterns
  • TDD/BDD experience
  • Relational and Object database knowledge
  • Modelling with DDD practices will be a plus
  • Experience with Cats / Scalaz will be a plus
