Job Description Summary

Responsible for tool and service designs within a technical domain that enable business strategies in accordance with architectural governance, standards and policies. Primary contributor to the creation of infrastructure tools and their integration as an infrastructure service. Facilitates deployment of technical solution by developing templates, playbooks and automation to be used during implementation. Infrastructure Engineer II consistently looks for opportunities to improve the reliability and efficiency when implementing and maintaining infrastructure tools and/or services. This engineer embraces the culture that drives innovation and continuous improvement.

Job Description

The successful candidate will work closely with CIO and Infrastructure organizations to gain a intimate knowledge of business services supported by mainframe and the future business requirements of those services.

Working to help develop and execute strategies it is critical the candidate has a strong knowledge of both traditional and new or emerging technologies. Being able to take a holistic view and make practical, balanced and unbiased decisions is key. The candidate must possess the ability to help realize strategies through assisting with planning development and issue resolution.

Excellent communication skills, both to technical, non-technical and at an executive level is required.

The successful applicant should be highly self-motivated, intellectually curious with the capability and willingness to learn new technology and apply that learning in a practical sense.

Required Skills

-Strong mainframe platform skills with practical experience of working with a number of mainframe technologies (e.g. DB2, CICS, IMS, MQ)

-Broad understanding of traditional and modern mainframe capabilities 

-Thorough and broad understanding of key technology principles across all platforms 

-Proven track record of working on large scale, multi-discipline, projects 

-Self-motivated and a self-starter with a genuine desire to learn and apply new skills

-Excellent communication skills  

-Excellent analytical skills
