Position Summary

The EDGe Monitoring Team seeks a strong engineer to develop, document and implement the teams monitoring strategy and its adoption and evolution with a focus on standards and application instrumentation for critical Bank Applications.

This is a unique opportunity to work with Business, Application Development and Support teams, Monitoring Tools teams and to create Monitoring Requirements and build end-end monitoring solutions to support applications.

In this role, you will be the technical expert for specific core monitoring tools and work directly with our application production support and application development partners to ensure the proper installation, setting of thresholds and dashboard configuration

The ideal candidate for this hands-on position will have excellent technical skills as well as strong communication skills to work with development teams and other engineering and business teams.

This is not an application development role, however experience working in some capacity with an application development team - understanding how different components in an application work together, interaction with the middleware, system software and Hardware is essential. Diverse engineering skills to architect and implement monitoring solutions

Required Skills

  • Preferred  5 years Development or Architecture experience for multi-tiered business applications.

  •  Preferred 2 years production systems engineering and/or support role.

  • Proven experience with implementation of monitoring – functional, synthetic, end-use experience for applications with tools such as – Tivoli, Splunk, Sitescope, Dynatrace etc.

  • Knowledge of OS (Windows/Unix) based infrastructure services, processing, monitoring, shell scripts, etc.

  • Proven experience in programming languages (Java and/or .NET)

  • Proven experience in application/network performance and availability monitoring

  • Knowledge of ITIL functions and processes

  • An excellent communicator, able to network and influence across multiple levels

  • A Self-motivated, hands-on, driven individual with strong leadership skills 

  • A strategic thinker who can link business context to technical reality 

  •  Able to work in a fast paced environment whilst meeting deadlines 

  • The ideal candidate will have experience working and being successful in a large, multi-data center enterprise environment. Business acumen a plus.

  • Communication and flexibility are important skills for this role, as special projects may be assigned over time.

Desired Skills

  • The candidate(s) must possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills; and be able to demonstrate those skills to a varying level of internal & external resources, to include senior leadership.

  • The candidate should be self-motivated and be able to detect a major concern that should be escalated to management for resolution. Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.

  • Strong results-oriented awareness, with an optimistic and enterprising attitude.

  • Experience in diagnosing complex technical issues
