Technical Project Manager

Job Description:

Position Summary

The Technical Project Manager is responsible for providing technical project planning and system architecture, management and oversight for key initiatives and implementation projects, ensuring initiatives and projects are closely aligned with competing priorities, and, that these initiatives and projects are completed on-time, within scope and budget and with an extremely high quality of deliverables. This individual will lead, manage, and execute all phases of project delivery including analysis and design, implementation, and configuration, testing and training, and ongoing, and will be accountable for all aspects of project management including all project resources, project planning, scheduling, risk management, scope management, internal and external communications, status reporting, and resource management.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years project management experience in the IT field, including development work and interactions with customers.
  • Extensive leadership experience and strong teaming abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with quality management approaches, techniques, and principles to ensure quality project delivery.
  • Full understanding of software development lifecycle and best practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to present a polished, professional, and diplomatic image to all stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal required oversight and management.
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
  • Effectively communicates with both technical and non-technical participants.

Desired Skills

  • Work closely with customers, engineers, designers, researchers, and product owners to distill technical requirements into easily actionable epics and user stories
  • Manage projects with top-down oversight throughout the entire execution to ensure adherence to scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans that merge customer requirements with organizational goals
  • Coordinate with various project managers and technical personnel during all project phases, from initial development through implementation, ensuring external project dependencies are properly tracked.
  • Monitor project progress continuously and make detailed scheduled reports on measurable items, such as milestones and deliverables.
  • Communicate proactively with all involved personnel to provide encouragement, identify problems, create solutions, and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Analyze economics of project plans and provide actionable feedback relating to cost benefit and return-on-investment standards .
  • Review proposed modifications on project plans, including meeting with cross-functional teams to approve and implement beneficial changes.
