Quartz Senior Delivery Lead - Technology

Quartz is the Bank of America’s Global Markets and Banking cross-asset, front-to-back platform for pricing, analytics, trade capture, and risk/P&L reconciliation.  This platform is leveraged by Capital Market’s Lines of Business (LOBs) to develop products for their business, regulatory and enterprise objectives.

Overview of the Role

The Quartz ecosystem includes multiple best-in-class products and services that collectively provide the foundation needed to run this complex platform.  One of the main responsibilities of the Product Management team is to own the Book-of-Work (BOW) for these products and services.  Each PM is aligned with a Development Lead, and works directly and independently with LOB and Regulatory PMs to drive requirements that manifest into the BOW.   The PM will own and maintain the LOB-PM relationship, which should lead into continuous discussions on project delivery, funding, resource planning and overall program/project governance.

Quartz, by design, provides support to Regulatory and Enterprise programs. Some of these Regulatory programs, such as IMM, xVA, CCAR, etc. are heavily dependent on Quartz APIs, models and data.  Enterprise programs fully leverage the entire Quartz platform to delivery front desk capabilities to enhance the markets business. The ideal candidate should:

  • Experience with public and/or private cloud technologies; significant expose to grid compute

  • Experience with database architecture and batch job processing

  • Worked as a Business Analyst, with a comprehensive understanding of trade capture, deal management and pricing (market models, market data, deal model)

  • Have a track record from managing complex technical migrations across multiple business units with varying timelines

  • Have the ability to drive projects to completion, able to manage risks and blockers

  • Be able to present and escalate status/issues to senior leadership in a manner that action can be taken

  • Foster an environment of collaboration and partnership to drive the project forward, including negotiating deadlines

As a Senior Delivery Lead - Technology, you will:

  • Independently engage with LOB technology teams, regulatory and business stakeholders

  • Navigate and drive large scale development projects with aggressive deadlines

  • Present, track and communicate project status across LOBs and other Quartz stakeholders, often with senior business stakeholders

  • Solve complex dependencies and negotiate compromises, including financial commitments to future deliverables

Must have skills/talents:

  • High energy level; impact focused

  • Structural understanding of the end-to-end trade flow – from trade origination to settlement and everything in-between

  • Customer/client relationship skills with senior stakeholders; ability to develop relationships quickly

  • Delivery focused; ability to analyze a situation and provide responses in a concrete, confident manner

  • Ability to mentor junior talent

  • Analytical - know business and IT processes, develop and release new solutions

  • Leadership focused - a strong track record of managing expectations at the senior leadership level

  • Ownership - desire to own the responsibility and the drive to accomplish positive technical and organizational results

  • Collaborative – work well within a team – ability to listen and contribute

  • Solid experience with industry proven Project Management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.); Financial management and oversight of project teams, including allocations and utilization

  • Strong written documentation skills to support your assessments; strong Powerpoint and Excel skills a huge plus

  • Degree in engineering, computer science or technical disciplines preferred

Nice to have:

  • Prior experience managing a large portfolio with multiple programs and resources (budget >$10MM)

  • Six sigma certification (Green or Black belt in DMAIC and/or DMADV)

  • Hands-on development of project management tooling is highly desirable (e.g. JIRA)

Responsible for the planning, coordinating, and delivery of defined deliverables for a larger program which requires engagement from teams across multiple organizations. Communicates the target outcomes, coordinates delivery, manages risks, ensures compliance to standards, and provides visibility into the health of the program. Ensures execution and delivery meets the clients expectations in terms of the target outcomes, timeline, cost. Manages financials for the program, assist with resource planning, and facilitate sync points between business and technology leaders across multiple organizations. Establishes the target outcomes in partnership with the stakeholders and leaders. Establishes and builds relationships with business and technology leaders across multiple organizations, as well as Compliance and Risk. Coordinates and facilitates the program routines - e.g. kick-off, status reviews, stakeholder meetings, change controls, tollgates, etc. Plans and coordinates delivery and dependencies across multiple organizations. Promotes/facilitates communication and collaboration across organizations to achieve the target outcomes and timeline. Facilitates dependency management/risk management/impediment removal. Responsible to provide status updates to stakeholders and leadership pertaining to the target outcomes, delivery, risks/issues, and schedule. Ensures that execution is aligned with target outcomes by working with the sponsor/stakeholders. Ensures the work delivered complies with Enterprise Change Management standards. Tracks the success metrics and reviews performance with stakeholders and leadership. Manages the financials and assists with resource planning for the program. Provides input to define/improve the Change Management process for the Portfolio. Individual Contributor.
