Insight Engineering Lead

Job Description:

This position is for an Insight Engineering Lead role on the Rapid Insight Solutions & Engineering (RISE) Team within our Analytics, Modeling, & Insights (AMI) organization.  As a member of Team RISE, our mission is to “democratize knowledge”.  We do this by enabling the teams we serve to flourish by accelerating their journey from data to insights through delivering solutions that foster decision intelligence.  

This includes:

  • Evaluating & prototyping new capabilities that advance democratizing knowledge.
  • Developing internal tools to improve how work gets done.
  • Delivering value-added solutions that facilitate insight delivery.

Responsibilities:
As an Insight Engineering Lead, you will be involved in work efforts to evaluate, prototype, and implement new tools & capabilities, in partnership with our Technology partners, that advance analytics and data science across the Analytics, Modeling, & Insights (AMI) organization within Bank of America.  This includes leading the design, build-out, and day-to-day oversight of a new advanced analytics lab for use by the AMI organization to enable insight innovation in the areas of Advanced Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing in support of all of Bank of America’s lines of business.  The Insight Engineering Lead role will be responsible for recruiting & developing a team of Insight Engineers that will partner with both internal AMI resources as well as line of business partners to identify uses cases and propose viable proof of concept, proof of technology, and pilot efforts to address the key business needs/questions at hand.

In this role you will:

  • Carry out end-to-end functional/performance evaluations and testing of data preparation tools, advanced analytics, BI tools, and AI/ML/NLP tools/applications. 
  • Take ownership & drive proof of technology (POT) & proof of concept (POC) efforts to success.
  • Provide hands-on configuration, data engineering, data preparation, data movement, and related tasks for POTs/POCs.
  • Be able to work with various vendors, startup companies, corporate supply chain, enterprise data architects, technology teams, as well as data engineers, data scientists, analytic analysts, modelers, and business partners.
     

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field such as Engineering, Math/Statistics, or Computer Science or a related analytical field preferred. 
  • 5+ years’ experience working in the Banking/Finance industry. 
  • 5+ years of experience in evaluating innovative advanced analytics and data preparation tools. 
  • 5+ years of data science, AI/ML/NLP experience. 
  • Deep understanding of data environments such as Hadoop, SAS, and Teradata. 
  • Experience in analytics, open source tools, and libraries for R, Python, & H2O. 
  • Experience with data prep/grooming tools (Alteryx) as well as data visualization tools (Tableau). 
  • Aptitude and curiosity to learn new technologies and question existing assumptions. 
  • Enthusiasm for teaching new technologies/techniques. 
  • Ability to multi-task and work in an unstructured and interrupt driven environment. 
  • Excellent communication skills and project management skills. 
  • Ability to interact with both business & technology partners on tech migration/adoption. 
  • Is a dedicated, enthusiastic, driven, & performance-oriented individual 
  • Possesses a strong work ethic and is a good team player.
     

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in Agile development methods. 
  • Experience with AI/ML modeling frameworks like (e.g. Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, etc.). 
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g. GCP Big Query, Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, etc.).
